The verdict

The Ozlo Sleepbuds 2 are $279 side-sleeper earbuds that Ozlo says reduce the impact of noise like snoring and traffic with masking sounds. They suit you if you want sound instead of silence all night. The catch is no active noise cancellation, and Ozlo gives no figure for how much noise the seal blocks.

The trade-off

They use sound masking, not active noise cancellation, and Ozlo publishes no noise-reduction or sleep-tracking accuracy data.

About this price

List price on Ozlo's US store on Oct 20, 2026, before tax and shipping. The listing shows no regular price, so $279 isn't a sale price. Ozlo is running a limited-time gift with purchase: a free sleep mask that sells for $29 on its own. Another Ozlo page lists a travel case ($29 alone) in the offer, and the product page doesn't. Shipping is free. Ozlo Care device protection is optional and is shown at $40 a year against $60.

A GOOD FIT FOR

You sleep on your side and want masking sound, a private alarm and a long battery without a phone connection.

  • You sleep on your side and want earbuds small enough to lie on (each bud weighs 1.6 g)
  • You want sound that masks snoring or traffic instead of silence
  • You want a private alarm that doesn't wake a partner
  • You want falling-asleep detection and nightly sleep patterns without a wearable

THINK TWICE IF

  • You want active noise cancellation, which these don't use
  • You mainly want snoring or traffic blocked, since earplugs did better than pink noise in one lab study
  • You want to take calls, since the buds have no microphone
  • You want a published figure for how much noise the seal blocks, since Ozlo gives none
  • You want sleep tracking with published accuracy data, since Ozlo publishes none
  • You don't want anything in your ears overnight
  • You want to block light rather than sound. The Manta PRO and Nodpod are masks
What still needs checking
  • How much noise the silicone seal blocks
  • How accurate falling-asleep detection and Sleep Patterns are compared with sleep-lab recordings
  • How long Sleepbuds 2 take to charge, since Ozlo's help center says up to 3 hours in articles written before this model
  • Whether any feature needs a paid plan
  • Whether the replacement eartips fit Sleepbuds 2
  • Whether the launch offer includes a travel case
  • The maximum masking volume of Sleepbuds 2, since the help center's 75 dBA figure is in an article written before this model
  • Whether the phone must be within 10 ft or 30 ft of the case

Do Ozlo Sleepbuds cancel noise?

Not actively. The Sleepbuds block noise passively with the silicone tips and add noise-masking sound. Ozlo calls this block-and-replace approach different from active noise cancellation16.

Ozlo gives no figure for how much noise the seal blocks. Its own testing indicates masking works better for sleep in a bedroom6. Research on masking sound is limited, and a 2021 systematic review rated the evidence that continuous noise improves sleep as very low quality10.

More about this assessment

The Ozlo Sleepbuds 2 are small sleep earbuds, 1.6 g each, with a Smart Case that charges them. Ozlo says they block noise passively with the silicone tips and add noise-masking sound, which it calls different from active noise cancellation. The buds sense when you fall asleep and switch from streaming to a stored sleep sound, and they have a private in-ear alarm. Ozlo rates the battery at up to 14 hours of playback, with 2 to 3 more charges in the case. Ozlo's US store listed them at $279 on Oct 20, 2026, with a limited-time free sleep mask. A one-year warranty and a 30-day return window apply.

Strengths on paper

  • Ozlo rates the battery at up to 14 hours of playback, and the Smart Case holds 2 to 3 more charges
  • Stored sleep sounds and the alarm work without a phone connection
  • Streams from any Bluetooth source
  • The buds weigh 1.6 g each and are rated IPX4
  • The case has a button to start or pause sound and snooze the alarm
  • A 30-day return window with a prepaid label, and a limited-time free sleep mask at $279

Limitations

  • No active noise cancellation, and Ozlo gives no figure for how much noise the silicone seal blocks
  • The buds have no microphone, so no calls
  • Returns need clean items in the original packaging with photos, and only for purchases made directly from Ozlo
  • The warranty excludes software, battery wear and earwax buildup
  • Ozlo publishes no accuracy data for its sleep detection or Sleep Patterns
  • Evidence that continuous noise improves sleep is very low quality, and pink noise reduced REM sleep in one lab study
  • Ozlo's pages disagree on the number of sounds (50+ or 60+) and the range to the phone

Replacement parts & cost assumptions

Recorded recurring parts and refills:

  • Replacement eartips (two pairs per size): $20. Ozlo sells sizes 0 to 3 at $20 for two pairs. It doesn't say how often to replace tips, and its listing doesn't say whether they fit Sleepbuds 2 or only the first generation.
  • Purchase is the $279 list price on Ozlo's US store on Oct 20, 2026, before tax. Shipping is free. The price currently includes a free sleep mask in a limited-time offer.
  • Ozlo calls the app free and lists no subscription for Sleepbuds 2, so other annual costs are $0. The optional Ozlo Care protection plan, shown at $40 a year against $60, isn't counted.
  • Replacement eartips cost $20 for two pairs, but Ozlo gives no replacement interval, so none is budgeted. A new pair of Sleepbuds 2 costs $279 at today's price.
  • Ozlo doesn't publish the charging power draw, so energy cost is unknown.

Evidence & sources.

Do cooling mattress pads, sleep masks and sheets help you sleep? Our evidence review grades the research as Weak. That grade is about the claim, not about this product.

  • Manufacturer claimOzlo says the Sleepbuds block snoring and other disruptions passively with the silicone tips, then use noise-masking audio to cover what leaks through. It calls this approach different from active noise cancellation. It also says its testing indicates the approach works better for sleep in a bedroom.16 Ozlo publishes no test data or noise-reduction figure for this statement.
  • Manufacturer claimOzlo says an accelerometer in the buds detects when you fall asleep. It says Sleep Patterns rates sleep length, quality and consistency, with the case sensing room noise, light and temperature.159 Ozlo publishes no validation against sleep-lab recordings. Ozlo's help center says its data can look different from other trackers because each measures sleep in its own way.
  • Manufacturer claimOzlo's help center says its masking audio is capped at 75 dBA, below the NIOSH 85 dBA over 8 hours guideline it cites. It says the audio was tested to the EN 50332 standard.14 The article was written before Sleepbuds 2 launched and doesn't name a generation. It is Ozlo's statement, and no independent test was checked.
  • Published studyA 2021 systematic review of 38 studies looked at continuous white noise and similar broadband noise. It rated the evidence that continuous noise improves sleep as very low quality, with findings ranging from improving to disrupting sleep.10 The studies varied in noise type, measures and controls. It covers continuous noise in general, not Ozlo's sounds, and it says more research with objective sleep measures is needed.
  • Published studyIn a laboratory study of 25 healthy adults across seven nights, pink noise at 40 or 50 dBA reduced REM sleep compared with a noise-free night. Adding it to intermittent environmental noise worsened sleep structure overall, despite minor improvements in noise-related sleep fragmentation. Earplugs mitigated nearly all the effects of that noise, except at the loudest level (65 dBA).11 Pink noise is one type of broadband sound, and Ozlo's masking sounds are tuned differently, so this doesn't test them. The participants were healthy adults averaging 28.5 years, and the authors call for more research on long-term use.
  • Published studyIn a 28-day study, 26 emergency medicine residents used noise-masking earbuds as needed after a 14-day baseline. On days they used them, they rated the night before about half a point better on an 8-point scale, and sleepiness and tension 0.6 points lower.12 Of 36 residents recruited, 26 were analyzed. The paper's title calls the earbuds SleepBuds. There was no control group, the ratings were self-reported, and the median use was 5 of 14 days. The abstract doesn't name the maker, and it isn't a study of Sleepbuds 2. The authors call for larger studies.
