The verdict
The Loftie Clock is a $199.99 bedside clock with a two-phase alarm, a nightlight and 100+ sleep sounds that Loftie says need no subscription. It suits you if you want a bedside clock you run from its buttons and don't need a sunrise light. The catch is that it isn't a sunrise alarm, and setup needs the app and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.

A GOOD FIT FOR
You want a gentle two-step alarm, sleep sounds and a nightlight with no subscription.
- You want an alarm clock with sleep sounds and a nightlight and no subscription
- You'll do the first setup in the app and then run it with buttons or in Offline Mode
- You want a red or blackout display for a dark bedroom
- You like a two-step alarm that starts soft and gets firmer
THINK TWICE IF
- You want a sunrise alarm, since Loftie says the Clock isn't one
- You have no 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for setup, since the clock joins 2.4 GHz networks only
- You want wired headphones or a phone charging port, since it has neither
- You want a published light output, since no lux or color temperature is listed
What still needs checking
- The nightlight's brightness in lux and its color temperature
- The alarm's maximum volume
- Power draw and typical use
- Whether the backup battery is 5 hours or 5 to 7 hours
- Whether Bluetooth speaker use and Drift still work in Offline Mode
- Which app features work from the clock alone
- Which studies Loftie means by science-backed
Does Loftie need Wi-Fi?
Only for setup and updates. Loftie says the Loftie Clock needs Wi-Fi for first setup and software updates, and then Offline Mode keeps its core features working without a connection13.
Setup uses the Loftie app and a 2.4 GHz network, and the clock doesn’t join 5 GHz-only networks14. Loftie’s product page says every feature in the app is also on the clock after setup, but its support page says the app adds Drift, the full sound library and Wind Down14.

InstallationDownload the free Loftie app and use it to set up the clock over a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network
Download the free Loftie app and use it to set up the clock over a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Loftie says you need the app for setup, and that every app feature is also on the clock afterward. Once the clock has updated and shows the right time, you can switch on Offline Mode. Plug it in with the included USB-C cable and power adapter, and keep it plugged in, since the backup battery is for power cuts.
WarrantyOne year from the date of purchase, covering defects in materials and workmanship
One year from the date of purchase, covering defects in materials and workmanship. Loftie's warranty is for the original buyer, or for a buyer from an authorized reseller in the US or Canada. Loftie chooses whether to repair, replace or refund. A repair or replacement is covered for the rest of the year or 90 days, whichever is longer. It excludes products from unauthorized resellers, shipping damage and normal wear. You send proof of purchase, and Loftie pays to ship the repaired unit back. Disputes go to binding arbitration.
Returns30 days from delivery
30 days from delivery. Loftie calls it a 30-night trial. The clock must be in like-new condition with all parts and accessories, ideally in the original box. A return that arrives damaged or missing parts can be refunded up to 50%. You start it in Loftie's returns portal, and Loftie sends a shipping label after approval. Refunds reach you 3 to 5 business days after Loftie receives the return. Refurbished clocks and lamps are final sale.
More about this assessment
The Loftie Clock is a plug-in bedside alarm clock and sound machine with a two-phase alarm, an adjustable nightlight and a red blackout mode. Loftie says it is not a sunrise alarm and points to its separate Loftie Lamp for that. You set it up in the free Loftie app over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, then can switch to Offline Mode. Everything the clock does is included in the price, with no subscription or paywall. The US store listed it at $199.99 on Oct 20, 2026. The backup battery is 5 hours in the tech specs and 5 to 7 hours in the description. A one-year warranty and a 30-day return window apply.

- The nightlight can turn on with your alarm
- $199.99 in every color, with a 30-day trial and a one-year warranty
Limitations
- It isn't a sunrise alarm, and Loftie's sunrise light is the separate Loftie Lamp
- It needs the app and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for setup and updates
- The backup battery is listed as 5 hours in one place and 5 to 7 hours in another
- A return that arrives damaged or incomplete can be refunded up to 50%
- The warranty excludes unauthorized resellers, and disputes go to binding arbitration
- The sounds are called science-backed with no study cited, and the evidence for continuous noise is weak

PLAN YOUR OWNERSHIP COSTS
What will it cost to own?
Change the assumptions to fit your use. Leave an unknown cost blank. Add water, subscriptions, cleaning, shipping and taxes if they apply. Use average operating power, not the maximum rating.
3-year known subtotal
$199.99Incomplete: energy use. This is not the full ownership cost.
Energy component: Unknown
Purchase + installation + years × (annual consumables + annual other) + watts/1000 × hours/day × 365 × years × $/kWh. Annualized allowances, not an exact replacement schedule. Excludes taxes, shipping, finance and resale unless entered.Replacement parts & cost assumptions
No scheduled consumable is listed. That doesn’t mean zero maintenance or repair costs.
- Purchase is the $199.99 list price on Loftie's US store on Oct 20, 2026, before tax. Shipping is free on orders of $100 or more.
- Loftie says there is nothing to subscribe to, so other annual costs are $0.
- No parts or refills are listed, so recurring costs are $0. It doesn't say how long the backup battery lasts over the years or what a battery repair costs.
- Loftie doesn't publish the clock's power draw or typical use, so energy cost is unknown.
Evidence & sources.
- Manufacturer claimLoftie says its clock has science-backed sleep sounds and a gentle two-phase alarm, and was built with advisors it names on the product page.1 No study is cited for the sounds or the alarm. The page says the Clock is not a sunrise alarm, so research on dawn light doesn't apply to it.
- Published studyA 2021 systematic review of 38 studies looked at continuous white noise and similar broadband noise. It rated the evidence that continuous noise improves sleep as very low quality, with findings ranging from improving to disrupting sleep.8 The studies varied in noise type, measures and controls. It covers continuous noise in general, not Loftie's tracks, and it says more research with objective sleep measures is needed.
- Published studyIn a seven-night lab study of 25 healthy adults, pink noise at 40 or 50 dBA reduced REM sleep compared with a noise-free night. Earplugs mitigated nearly all the effects of intermittent environmental noise, except at the loudest level (65 dBA).9 Pink noise is one type of broadband sound, and Loftie's tracks include white and brown noise, so this doesn't test them directly. The adults averaged 28.5 years, and the authors call for more research on long-term use.
