The verdict

Pod 6 Standard is a 1-inch two-zone cover for your existing Queen mattress, at $2,899. It suits couples who like the bed at different temperatures and will keep paying for Autopilot. The catch is that membership: every Pod 6 needs one, and the 5-year warranty needs the $299 or $399 yearly plan.

The trade-off

Membership fees add at least $199 a year to the $2,899 price, and the 5-year warranty needs a $299-plus plan kept active.

About this price

Eight Sleep's product page shows "Pod 6 Standard" at $2,899 without marking a size. That's the hardware price before tax. The launch release puts the Queen at $2,899, the Full at $2,699, and the King and California King at $2,999. The page's $3,198 total adds a year of Autopilot Enhanced, at $299 billed annually. No sale or strike-through price was shown, so the hardware price is treated as the list price.

A GOOD FIT FOR

Couples who like the bed at different temperatures, want to keep their Queen mattress and will keep paying for Autopilot.

  • You share a Queen bed and want each side heated or cooled separately, between 55°F and 110°F
  • You want to keep your current mattress and add a 1-inch active cover
  • You're fine paying for a membership every year you want the full warranty

THINK TWICE IF

  • Anyone who doesn't want an ongoing subscription, since Eight Sleep says every Pod 6 requires Autopilot
  • Anyone who needs an FDA-cleared medical or diagnostic device, since Eight Sleep states no clearance for Pod 6
  • A bed with no room for a 7.87-inch-tall Hub underneath and no floor space beside it
  • Anyone planning to buy from a third-party seller, since the warranty covers only Pods bought from eightsleep.com
What still needs checking
  • Whether Pod 6 follows the 12-month minimum membership in Eight Sleep's help center, which doesn't name a Pod generation
  • What still works if you cancel
  • Average power draw, nightly run time and noise level
  • Water reservoir capacity, and the refill and maintenance-insert schedule
  • Which mattress thicknesses are supported, since Eight Sleep says only that the Cover fits any mattress
  • Whether Autopilot fees are refunded if you return the Pod within the 30-night trial
  • What condition a returned Pod must be in
  • When, or if, the FDA clearance Eight Sleep says it's pursuing comes through
  • Long-term reliability of the new Hub and 18-sensor Cover, which launched in September 2026

Before you buy

InstallationThe Cover fits over your existing mattress like a fitted sheet

The Cover fits over your existing mattress like a fitted sheet. The Hub slides under the bed or sits on or near the nightstand. It takes 120/240 V AC input, and the product page doesn't mention a dedicated circuit. You set temperatures, sync fitness apps and see health insights in the app. Eight Sleep says the Hub is small enough to fit under most bed frames. It's 7.87 in tall, so it needs at least that much space to go under a bed. Eight Sleep doesn't say whether it needs extra clearance for airflow.

WarrantyThe standard limited warranty covers manufacturing defects under normal in-home…

The standard limited warranty covers manufacturing defects under normal in-home, non-commercial use for 2 years. That's the term listed for the Autopilot Standard plan. With an active Autopilot Enhanced or Elite membership, it's a 5-year limited warranty instead. Coverage starts on the delivery date. Both terms require an active Eight Sleep membership throughout the coverage period. They apply only to Pods bought directly from eightsleep.com, not from resellers, marketplaces or secondhand sales. The warranty excludes embedded software, normal wear and tear, cosmetic damage, accidents and misuse, and service by anyone Eight Sleep hasn't authorized.

ReturnsThere's a 30-night trial, which Eight Sleep calls risk-free…

There's a 30-night trial, which Eight Sleep calls risk-free, with free shipping and free returns. To return a Pod, contact Eight Sleep support within 30 calendar days of the delivery date. Eight Sleep sends return shipping instructions and a prepaid return label. It says refunds are typically processed within 5 to 10 business days. You can return Pod 6 components individually within the 30-day window. Delivery to a freight forwarder, or rerouting to an unsupported country, voids return eligibility. The policy says each component must meet return requirements but doesn't define them. Eight Sleep doesn't say whether Autopilot fees are refunded.

More about this assessment

Pod 6 is Eight Sleep's two-zone heating and cooling system: a 1-inch Cover over your existing mattress, plus a Hub under or beside the bed. Eight Sleep lists a range of 55°F to 110°F for each side. The Standard Queen kit is $2,899. Every Pod 6 also needs an Autopilot membership, at $199 to $399 a year. The 5-year warranty applies only with the Enhanced or Elite plan, and only while the membership stays active. On the Standard plan, the warranty is 2 years.

Strengths on paper

  • Two independently controlled sides, each with a 55°F to 110°F range, per Eight Sleep
  • The 1-inch Cover fits over your existing mattress, with no paid installation, plumbing or electrical work listed
  • Eight Sleep says the Hub (16.54 x 7.87 x 6.50 in, 15.2 lb) fits under most bed frames
  • 30-night trial with free returns and free shipping

Limitations

  • Autopilot membership is required, at $199 to $399 a year
  • The advertised 5-year warranty needs the $299 or $399 yearly plan
  • Warranty coverage lapses unless the membership stays active for the whole coverage period
  • Eight Sleep doesn't state average power use, noise level or a water-maintenance schedule
  • Eight Sleep says the Cover fits any mattress but gives no thickness range
  • The product page's "up to 45%" snoring-reduction claim belongs to the Base add-on, which this kit doesn't include

Replacement parts & cost assumptions

Recorded recurring parts and refills:

  • Maintenance inserts: cost not recorded. The Autopilot page lists complimentary maintenance inserts in all three plans. Eight Sleep doesn't say how often to replace them or what they cost on their own.
  • Autopilot Enhanced, at $299 billed annually, is counted as an annual cost. It's the plan the product page adds to its $3,198 total, and you need it (or Elite) for the 5-year warranty the page advertises. The cheapest plan, Standard at $199 a year, would lower the three-year estimate by $300. But it carries only a 2-year warranty. Monthly billing costs more: $25 x 12 = $300 a year for Enhanced. An Eight Sleep help-center article says a membership is required for the first 12 months. The estimate assumes you keep it for all three years. The warranty also requires an active membership throughout coverage.
  • Installation is $0 because the Cover fits over the mattress like a fitted sheet and the Hub plugs in. Eight Sleep lists no paid installation or electrical work, and shipping is free.
  • Annual consumables are $0 because the only maintenance item found, the maintenance inserts, is listed as complimentary with every Autopilot plan. Eight Sleep doesn't state a water-change or insert schedule.
  • Electricity isn't annualized. The Hub's listed 550 W is an output rating, not an average draw. Eight Sleep doesn't state typical power use or nightly run time.
  • The estimate leaves out the add-ons: Base, Blanket and Pillow Cover. The product page says the Pillow Cover connects to a separate Hub, so its temperature is controlled independently of the Cover. It also shows automatic elevation in response to snoring as a Base feature.

Evidence & sources.

Do cooling mattress pads, sleep masks and sheets help you sleep? Our evidence review grades the research as Weak. That grade is about the claim, not about this product.

  • Manufacturer claimPrice, sizes, temperature range, Hub dimensions and power, materials, trial and return terms, warranty and plan pricing all come from Eight Sleep. The sources are its product, warranty, Autopilot and return-policy pages and its launch release.146 This is Eight Sleep's own information, not independent performance or health-outcome testing.
  • Manufacturer claimEight Sleep doesn't describe Pod 6 as FDA-cleared. At launch it said it's "advancing the Pod's path toward medical device status" and pursuing clearance from Abu Dhabi's HTA and the U.S. FDA.14 That's an intention, not a clearance, and Eight Sleep gives no timeline. The product page calls the sensors "clinical-grade" but cites no FDA clearance. We couldn't complete a search of the FDA 510(k) and De Novo databases for this review.
  • Manufacturer claimThe product page says the Base can "Reduce snoring by up to 45% with real-time adjustments."13 The claim sits in the Base part of the product page, next to the line saying the Base lifts automatically when it detects snoring. The Autopilot page ties the same "up to 45%" figure to head elevation "with the Base add-on". So the claim belongs to the Base, not the Cover-and-Hub configuration reviewed here. The footnote text wasn't visible on either page, so the study population, design and effect size couldn't be reviewed.
  • Manufacturer claimEight Sleep's launch release says "Every Pod 6 requires an Autopilot membership" and gives no minimum term. An Eight Sleep help-center article says "A membership is required for the first 12 months" but doesn't name a Pod generation.47 Only the help-center article's summary text could be read, so it isn't known what still works after you cancel.
  • Independent testAn independent launch report says every Pod 6 needs an Autopilot membership, but its wording conflicts on whether that applies only to the first year. It also describes a built-in water reservoir in place of Pod 5's removable tank.5 It's secondary reporting of Eight Sleep's information, not independent performance or health-outcome testing. The report's own anecdotal impressions aren't used here.
