A good home blood pressure monitor is a validated upper-arm model with a cuff that fits your arm. This guide covers four such monitors and four smart scales that US shoppers can buy at a published price.

About this guide

The monitors are Omron's Platinum, Evolv and 3 Series, and the Withings BPM Connect. The scales are the Withings Body Scan and Body Smart, the Wyze Scale X and the Renpho Elis 1. Our evidence reviews say a validated upper-arm monitor is worth it if you have, or may have, high blood pressure. They say a smart scale helps with weight trends, but its body-fat and metabolic-age readings are rough estimates at best. Home readings don't replace regular visits with a clinician.

Best upper-arm blood pressure monitor: Omron Evolv BP7000

Used by our founder

$119.99US price, checked

Why this one

The Evolv is a one-piece upper-arm monitor: the cuff and the display are a single unit with no air tube. The AMA's validated device listing includes it.

The trade-off

The cuff can't be replaced, and the monitor keeps readings for one person. It shows only the latest reading, and earlier ones appear in the app.

More detail and alternatives

A published study of 86 adults found it met the ISO 81060-2:2013 accuracy criteria, though two of the study's three authors work for Omron. It fits upper arms of 9 to 17 inches, syncs to the free OMRON connect app over Bluetooth and comes with batteries. Omron's warranty on the monitor is five years.

Omron's MSRP is $119.99, and Omron doesn't sell from its US site, so the price you pay and the return terms are the retailer's.

Choose the Omron 3 Series BP7150 if you want to spend less. Its MSRP is $59.99, and the AMA's validated device listing includes it too. It stores 14 readings for one person, batteries aren't included, and the monitor's warranty is two years.

Best blood pressure monitor with Wi-Fi: Withings BPM Connect

Used by our founder

$129.95US price, checked

Why this one

BPM Connect puts the cuff, pump and display in one rechargeable unit that syncs to the Withings app over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

The trade-off

It lists no irregular heartbeat or AFib feature, keeps only 8 readings on the device between syncs and needs a phone for setup.

More detail and alternatives

The AMA's validated device listing includes it for general adults and pregnant people, and a 2022 study of 85 adults found it met the ISO 81060-2:2018 criteria. Withings rates a charge at up to 6 months. Withings' own store gives 30 days to return it.

The store page preselects the optional Withings+ plan, which bills $99.50 a year after a free first month, so choose No subscription if you don't want it. The warranty is two years.

Choose the Omron Platinum BP5465 if two people share one monitor and want readings kept on it. It stores 100 readings for each of two users, and Omron says it screens every reading for possible AFib. Its own validation list names the BP5450, not the BP5465. The monitor shows no blood pressure reading when it flags a possible AFib.

Best smart scale: Withings Body Smart

Used by our founder

$129.95US price, checked

Why this one

Body Smart weighs you in 0.1 lb steps and syncs over Wi-Fi, so readings reach the Withings app without your phone nearby.

The trade-off

Its body-fat and other body readings come through the feet only, and Withings gives no accuracy figure for them.

More detail and alternatives

Regular weighing inside a weight-management program is the part of a smart scale that trials support, and baseline data and trends are free in the app. Batteries come in the box, and Withings rates them at an average of 15 months. Withings lists a 2-year guarantee and 30-day returns on its own store.

Withings says accounts created on or after Oct 13, 2026 need Withings+ to send data to Apple Health or Health Connect. If you have a pacemaker or other internal medical device, Withings says to turn the body-fat and heart-rate readings off.

Choose the Withings Body Scan if you want an FDA-cleared ECG and fat and muscle estimates for five body zones. It costs $499.95. Withings' close match with DEXA comes from its own study, and no independent DEXA validation was found.

Best budget smart scale: Wyze Scale X

Used by our founder

$38.98US price, checked

Why this one

Scale X lists at $38.98 and shows weight and body fat on its display, with 13 metrics in the Wyze app. It syncs to Apple Health, Fitbit and Health Connect.

The trade-off

Wyze gives no accuracy figure that names the Scale X. In a 2023 lab study, a Wyze Scale of no stated model read body fat 3.6 points high on average.

More detail and alternatives

Its weight-only mode switches off the current, and Wyze says you can use the scale with a pacemaker in that mode. Wyze gives 18 months of warranty and 30 days of returns with a prepaid label when you buy on wyze.com.

Only weight and body fat show on the scale, so the rest of the metrics need the app.

Choose the Renpho Elis 1 if you want the lowest price. It lists at $24.99, and Renpho says the Renpho Health app is completely free. Only weight shows on the scale, it reads through the feet only, and Renpho gives no accuracy figure for body fat.

THE REASONS BEHIND THE PICKS

What matters.
And what doesn't.

Three things decide the blood pressure picks. One is whether the exact model is on the AMA's US Validated Device Listing. Another is whether the cuff fits your arm. The third is the warranty. For a scale, they're the weight reading, the app and its subscription terms, and whether you can switch off the body-composition current. We don't rank by how many body metrics a scale reports. We report AFib and ECG features as the makers and the FDA describe them. They don't decide a pick.

01Validated, model by model

Validation means documented accuracy testing under a recognized protocol, and the AMA's US Validated Device Listing records it. Some of these studies were supported by the maker. The listing includes the Omron Evolv BP7000, the Omron 3 Series BP7150 and the Withings BPM Connect. Omron's list of validated monitors names the older Platinum BP5450, not the BP5465 sold now, and no AMA entry for the BP5465 was found. Omron's accuracy table lists the BP5465 as meeting ISO 81060-2 without naming a study of it.

What to checkSearch validatebp.org for the exact model number on the box before you buy.

02A cuff that fits your arm

All four monitors take upper arms of 9 to 17 inches (22 to 42 cm). Omron sells an optional 7 to 9 inch cuff for the Platinum and the 3 Series. The Evolv and the BPM Connect have the cuff built in, and the Evolv's can't be replaced. In a randomized crossover trial, a regular adult cuff read systolic pressure about 4.8 mm Hg high in people who needed a large one. If you have a larger arm, check that it falls inside the 9 to 17 inch range before you buy.

What to checkMeasure around your upper arm, then check it against the cuff range before you order.

03One user or two, and where readings go

The 3 Series stores 14 readings for one user. The Evolv stores 100 for one user, and you see earlier readings only in the app. The Platinum stores 100 readings each for two users. The BPM Connect keeps 8 readings on the device between Wi-Fi syncs, and Withings doesn't say how many people can use it.

What to checkIf two people will share a monitor, look for a second user mode, and decide whether you want readings on the device or in an app.

04AFib and ECG features

Omron says the Platinum screens every reading for possible AFib, and calls that a screen for the possibility only. FDA's device listing places the BP5465 under a De Novo order for that feature. When it flags a possible AFib, the monitor shows no blood pressure reading. The Withings Body Scan has an ECG function the FDA cleared in 2023 (K230812). The BPM Connect lists no irregular heartbeat or AFib feature.

What to checkTreat a flag as a reason to talk to a clinician, not as a diagnosis.

05What a smart scale can and can't tell you

Every scale here weighs you, and regular weighing inside a weight-management program is the part of a smart scale that trials support. Body-fat, muscle and similar readings come from a small current through your body and can be several percentage points off for one person. Withings says the Body Scan matches DEXA closely, but that comes from its own study. No independent validation of any of these four models was found. Withings and Wyze let you switch the body-composition current off. Withings tells people with a pacemaker or other implanted device, or who are pregnant, to turn it off.

What to checkRead body fat and muscle as rough trends, and switch the current off if the maker's safety page says it applies to you.

06Apps, subscriptions, batteries and returns

The Omron, Withings and Renpho apps have free tiers. Omron doesn't list a price for its premium app tier. Withings+ costs $9.95 a month or $99.50 a year. Withings says accounts created on or after Oct 13, 2026 need it to send data to Apple Health or Health Connect. Withings, Wyze and Renpho give 30-day returns on their own stores. Omron's pages give no return window, and Omron says it sells the Platinum only on Amazon. Running costs are batteries for the Omron monitors and the three battery-powered scales, which no maker prices, and the optional Withings+ plan. The 3 Series needs four AA batteries that aren't in the box. The Evolv, the Platinum and the three battery-powered scales include theirs. The BPM Connect and Body Scan recharge.

What to checkCheck which features need the paid plan, and buy where the return window is stated.
