Elis 1 is Renpho's entry scale: a four-electrode glass scale that shows weight and sends 13 body metrics to the free Renpho Health app. It suits you if you want a low-cost weight trend and treat body fat as a rough guide. The catch: it reads through the feet only, and Renpho gives no accuracy figure for body fat. If you want Wi-Fi sync and a battery Withings rates at 15 months, look at the Withings Body Smart.
It reads through the feet only, Renpho gives no body-fat accuracy figure, and only weight shows on the scale.

A GOOD FIT FOR
You want a low-cost scale that records weight trends and sends body readings to a free app.
THINK TWICE IF
Renpho lists weight accuracy of ±0.3 kg at 50 kg and ±0.5 kg at 150 kg, but gives no accuracy figure for body fat3.
Renpho says body composition analysis is inexact whichever scale or method you use, so you should watch trends, not day-to-day numbers3.
In a 2023 lab study of 73 healthy adults, a RENPHO scale read body fat 1.4 points low on average against a four-compartment model8. Its total error against the reference model was 7.2 points, and the paper rated its standard error of the estimate “poor”. The paper gives no model number, so it may not be the Elis 18.
Renpho lists none: it says the Renpho Health app is completely free to download and use on iOS and Android6. The App Store lists the app at no charge9.
The scale needs the app to show anything beyond weight: only weight appears on its display, and the other 12 metrics are in the app13.
Renpho advises people with a pacemaker to use the scale for weighing only and to wear shoes so no electric current passes through them13.
It gives the same advice for pregnancy, osteoporosis, artificial joints, a portable ECG or other metal implants, and for children under 813. Renpho’s manual page gives the age as under 10 instead3.
| Exact variant | Elis 1 (ES-CS20M by Renpho's part number), three AAA batteries included |
|---|---|
| Body composition method | Bioelectrical impedance through 4 electrodes in the platform. Renpho says current runs up through one foot, into the lower body and down the other foot, and the upper body is estimated with algorithms. The app shows 13 metrics: weight, BMI, body fat %, body water %, skeletal muscle, fat-free body weight, muscle mass, bone mass, protein, basal metabolic rate, subcutaneous fat, visceral fat and metabolic age. Renpho doesn't state the frequency |
| Weighing | 6.6 to 400 lb (3 to 180 kg) in 0.1 lb (0.05 kg) steps. Units: lb and kg. Renpho's manual page lists the ES-CS20M among its models. It gives weight accuracy of ±0.3 kg at 50 kg, ±0.4 kg at 100 kg and ±0.5 kg at 150 kg |
| Display | LED display. Renpho lists weight as the one body metric shown on the scale; the other 12 are in the app |
| Users and ages | Unlimited profiles in the app, with automatic user recognition. The manual page says children under 10 and adults over 70 get weighing only, while Renpho's collection FAQ says children under 8 |
| Connectivity and app | Bluetooth, version 5 per the manual page. Works only with the Renpho Health app, which the App Store lists as requiring iOS 15.1 or later. The App Store also lists Apple Watch. Syncs with Apple Health, Fitbit, Samsung Health and MyFitnessPal |
| Battery | Three AAA batteries, included. Renpho gives a battery life of up to 4.5 months |
| Use guidance | Bare feet on the electrodes, a hard flat surface, and weighing at the same time each day. The scale switches off after 10 seconds. Renpho says to recalibrate it if it has been moved or turned upside down |
| In the box | Elis 1 Smart Body Scale, three AAA batteries and a manual |
| Dimensions | The scale's size and weight are unknown. Renpho's product page lists only a 400 lb capacity. |
| Materials | Glass, per Renpho's product page. Renpho's manual page, which covers several scale models, lists tempered glass with HIPS plastic. |
No installation. The three AAA batteries are included. Put the scale on a hard, flat floor, since Renpho says carpet causes inaccurate readings. Download the free Renpho Health app, create an account or use guest mode, and pair the scale over Bluetooth while standing on it with bare feet.
18 months from the original retail purchase for buyers in the US and Canada, per Renpho's warranty terms. They apply to scales bought on Renpho's own site, and other sales channels may differ. The product page also says 18 months, but Renpho's manual page still says one year. Renpho repairs, replaces or refunds at its choice. Batteries made to diminish over time, cosmetic damage, accidents, liquid contact and unauthorized service aren't covered.
30 days from delivery, per Renpho's shipping and returns page. If you return the scale for a personal reason, it must be unused and in its original packaging. You pay return shipping, and Renpho charges no restocking fee. If it arrives damaged or defective within 30 days, Renpho pays return shipping and gives a full refund or a free replacement. Contact support first, and Renpho then sends a prepaid label.
Elis 1 is Renpho's entry smart scale and, Renpho says, its best-seller. It lists at $24.99, has four electrodes in a glass platform and shows only weight on its LED display. It sends 13 body metrics to the free Renpho Health app over Bluetooth. Renpho says Elis scales measure mainly the lower body and estimate the upper body with algorithms, and it gives weight accuracy figures but none for body fat. A 2023 lab study found a RENPHO scale of no stated model read body fat 1.4 points low on average. Renpho advises people with a pacemaker, or who are pregnant, to use it for weighing only.
