The verdict

The Manta PRO is an $85 blackout mask with eye cups you slide into place and a strap that sits above your ears. It suits side sleepers whose flat masks press on their eyes. The catch is a six-month warranty and no textile certification.

The trade-off

Defects are covered for only six months, and Manta lists no OEKO-TEX or similar certification.

A GOOD FIT FOR

You sleep on your side and want a blackout mask whose cups don't press on your eyes.

  • You sleep on your side and flat masks press on your eyes
  • You want a blackout mask with nothing to charge
  • Your head measures 17 to 24 inches around
  • You want a vegan mask you can put through the washing machine

THINK TWICE IF

  • You want a textile with a named certification such as OEKO-TEX
  • Noise wakes you more than light, since the PRO has no built-in headphones
  • You want cover beyond six months if the foam or strap fails
  • You have a latex allergy and want written confirmation the foam is latex free
What still needs checking
  • The mask's weight
  • How the 73 cm strap figure on the product page squares with the FAQ's 17 to 24 inch fit range
  • The Tactel's fiber content and whether the PRO's foam is latex free
  • Whether the PRO comes with a mesh laundry net; Manta's general mask FAQ mentions an included pouch, but the PRO's page doesn't
  • Whether a mask you've slept in or washed can still be returned
  • How long the foam and strap last with regular washing
  • How much light actually gets through; Manta publishes no measurement

DimensionsManta's FAQ says the PRO fits heads 17 to 24 inches around. Laid out flat, it extends up to 26 inches. The eye cups are 3.55 inches across and about 3/4 inch deep at the center. The product page calls the head strap 73 cm around and fully adjustable, but doesn't say how that squares with the 17 to 24 inch range. Manta doesn't give the mask's weight.
MaterialsThe eye cups and the inside of the mask are Tactel fabric. The strap is perforated foam and mesh, with an anti-slip silicone grip on the inside. Manta's FAQ says the outer mesh is polyester and that the mask uses no animal-derived materials. Manta doesn't give the Tactel's fiber content or say whether the PRO's foam is latex free. Its FAQ makes the latex-free claim only for the Original mask.

Before you buy

InstallationNothing to install

Nothing to install. You slide the C-shaped eye cups along the strap until they sit over your eyes, then adjust the hook-and-loop strap. The strap is angled to sit above your ears rather than on them. To clean it, machine wash it cold in a mesh laundry net with the cups attached, then lay it flat to air dry. Manta says not to tumble dry it, since heat can damage the mask, and not to bleach it.

WarrantyManta covers manufacturing defects on non-electronic products…

Manta covers manufacturing defects on non-electronic products, including the PRO, for six months from purchase. The only remedy is a replacement with the same product. Sending a video of the defect speeds up the claim. Manta issues a return label once its quality team confirms the defect.

ReturnsManta offers a 60-day money-back guarantee

Manta offers a 60-day money-back guarantee. You contact its support team, and it emails a prepaid return label. The mask has to arrive back in good condition and in its original packaging. Manta then gives you a refund or store credit. If you paid for shipping, that fee isn't refunded. The policy doesn't say whether a mask you've slept in or washed still qualifies. Instead of a refund, you can exchange once per order within 60 days for an item at the same price or lower. You pay the exchange shipping and have 7 days to send the original back. After an exchange, the order can't be refunded.

More about this assessment

The Manta PRO is a strapped blackout mask with two C-shaped eye cups that slide along the strap. Manta says it blocks 100% of light and puts no pressure on your eyelids or lashes. The Classic color costs $85, the same as Carbon Black. It fits heads 17 to 24 inches around, and the cups are about 3/4 inch deep. It's machine washable on cold. You get 60 days to return it, but the original shipping fee isn't refunded. Defects are covered for six months, and no textile certification is listed.

Strengths on paper

  • The C-shaped eye cups slide anywhere along the strap, so you can line them up with your eyes
  • Manta publishes the cup size: 3.55 inches across and about 3/4 inch deep
  • The angled strap sits above the ears instead of on them
  • Manta says the cups block 100% of light and put no pressure on eyelids or lashes
  • Machine washable in cold water
  • Nothing to charge, refill or subscribe to
  • A 60-day money-back guarantee with a prepaid return label

Limitations

  • Defects are covered for six months, and the only remedy is a replacement of the same mask
  • The original shipping fee isn't refunded, and returns must come back in the original packaging
  • Bought on its own, it pays $7 shipping, since free US shipping is for orders over $105
  • No OEKO-TEX or other textile certification is listed
  • Manta says the Original mask's foam is latex free but makes no such claim for the PRO
  • Manta sells no PRO strap or eye cups as spare parts
  • One exchange uses up your right to a refund on that order
  • Manta says it "boosts REM and deep sleep" but cites no study, and its own table says the same of generic masks

Replacement parts & cost assumptions

No scheduled consumable is listed. That does not mean zero maintenance or repair costs.

  • Purchase is the $85 list price for the Classic color on Oct 13, 2026, before tax. US standard shipping adds $7 unless your order is over $105.
  • There are no required parts, refills or subscriptions, and the mask uses no power, so those costs are $0.
  • Manta doesn't give a lifespan or replacement interval for the PRO, so no replacement is budgeted. Its FAQ says washing it in a mesh net makes it last much longer. A new one costs $85 at today's price.
  • Manta's accessories page has no PRO strap or cups. Manta says all its eye cups work with all its straps, and it sells an ORIGINAL strap for $23 and COOL or STEAM cups for $29. None of those is the PRO's own strap or C-shaped cup.
  • Washing costs aren't counted. Manta sells a Travel & Laundry Bag for $15 if you need a mesh net.

Evidence & sources.

Do cooling mattress pads, sleep masks and sheets help you sleep? Our evidence review grades the research as Weak. That grade is about the claim, not about this product.

  • Manufacturer claimManta says the PRO gives "true 100% blackout", puts "zero pressure on eyelids or lashes" and is "engineered for side sleepers", with C-shaped cups and a strap that sits above the ears.1 Manufacturer claims. The page gives no light-blocking measurement and cites no independent test of fit or comfort.
  • Manufacturer claimManta's comparison table says the PRO "Boosts REM and deep sleep."16 Manta cites no study for this and none of the PRO itself. The same table marks generic sleep masks "Yes" on this row too. In Greco and colleagues' 2023 study of an ordinary mask, a headband EEG showed no mask-related change in sleep stages.
  • Published studyIn a 2023 study of healthy adults aged 18 to 35, sleeping in an ordinary eye mask slightly improved next-day word-pair learning and reaction time. It was compared with no mask or a mask with holes over the eyes.6 The effects were small (Cohen's d about 0.2), and the mask brand wasn't named, so it says nothing about the Manta PRO specifically. In a second experiment with a headband EEG, sleep stages didn't differ with the mask. The study was academic, funded by a European Research Council grant.
  • Manufacturer claimManta lists no OEKO-TEX or other textile certification for the PRO on its product page or FAQ. The only OEKO-TEX claim in the FAQ is for its bedsheet set.15 With no certificate number there's nothing to look up in a certifier's registry. Manta's FAQ says the Original mask's foam is latex free but says nothing about latex for the PRO.
  • Manufacturer claimManta's page shows a 4.7 out of 5 average from 1,984 customer reviews.1 Reviews collected and shown by the seller aren't independent, and they aren't a controlled comparison with other masks.
