The verdict

Transparent Labs Creatine HMB is a blend, not plain creatine. A 7 g unflavored scoop has 5,000 mg of creatine monohydrate and 1,500 mg of HMB, and NSF's Certified for Sport database lists it. It suits an athlete subject to drug testing who wants creatine and HMB together. The catch is cost, about $1.67 a serving at $49.99 for 30.

The trade-off

It costs about $1.67 a serving, it isn't plain creatine, and return shipping isn't reimbursed.

A GOOD FIT FOR

You want creatine monohydrate and HMB in one scoop, from a product in NSF's Certified for Sport database.

  • An athlete subject to drug testing who wants a creatine product in NSF's Certified for Sport database, and who can match the tub's lot number to NSF's list
  • An adult who wants 5 g of creatine, 1.5 g of HMB and 500 IU of vitamin D3 in one scoop

THINK TWICE IF

  • If you want plain creatine monohydrate, this is a blend, and NSF's Transparent Labs results list no plain creatine
  • If you watch cost, it's about $1.67 a serving, or about $608 a year at one scoop a day
  • If you count vitamin D or calcium from several supplements, a scoop adds 500 IU of vitamin D3 and 200 mg of calcium
  • If you plan to take extra servings for creatine loading, Transparent Labs says not to because of the vitamin D
What still needs checking
  • Whether a given tub's lot number is among the lots NSF lists
  • The NSF certification date, which the listing doesn't show
  • Which sizes, flavors and lots Informed Choice's listing covers
  • The net weight of the 30-serving tub
  • Who supplies the creatine

Replacement parts & cost assumptions

Recorded recurring parts and refills:

  • Creatine HMB 30-serving tub, unflavored (TPL004109): $49.99 about every 4 weeks. One tub lasts 30 days (about 0.99 months) at one scoop a day. The cost is the $49.99 one-time price, before tax and shipping. The Subscribe and Save price isn't included.
  • Annual refills at one scoop a day: 365 servings / 30 per tub x $49.99 = $608.21 at the one-time price. That leaves out tax and shipping, and any Subscribe and Save price.
  • The first $49.99 tub counts as the purchase, and refills cover three full years. So the three-year estimate includes about one tub more than 1,095 daily servings would need.
  • The 60-serving tub at $89.99 would bring annual refills to about $547.44 (365 / 60 x $89.99).

Evidence & sources.

Do creatine, fish oil, vitamin D and magnesium work? Our evidence review grades the research as Mixed. That grade is about the claim, not about this product.

  • CertificationNSF's Certified for Sport database lists "Creatine HMB" by Transparent Labs in 13 versions: unflavored and 12 flavors. The unflavored entry is for the United States, with a 7 g serving, 5 calories and 12 certified lot numbers. Its package sizes are 105 g, 210 g and 420 g. NSF's separate dietary supplement listing (NSF/ANSI Standard 173) names the same 13 products, with scoops from 7 g to 10.65 g.35 You can match the lot number on your tub to the listed lots. The listing shows no certification date. A sport certification is about what's in the product, not about health effects.
  • Manufacturer claimTransparent Labs says every batch is third-party tested for purity and potency. It links certificate-of-analysis results and says Informed Choice certifies the product. It says the formula has no artificial sweeteners or colors.1211 These are Transparent Labs' own statements, and the test results aren't published on the page. Informed Choice's October 2026 certified products list names Transparent Labs Creatine HMB, with no sizes, flavors or lot numbers.
  • Independent testNIH's Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) describes a typical creatine regimen as 20 g a day for 5 to 7 days, then 3 to 5 g a day. It also describes single doses of about 3 to 6 g a day for 3 to 4 weeks without loading. It reports no consistent side effects apart from weight gain. For HMB it describes numerous clinical trials with conflicting results and a most common study dose of 3 g a day. It reports no safety concerns for 3 g a day for up to 2 months.8 One scoop gives 5 g of creatine and 1.5 g of HMB. ODS says there is no expert consensus on HMB for months of use.
  • Published studyA 2017 meta-analysis pooled 22 randomized trials with 721 adults, mean ages 57 to 70, who did resistance training while taking creatine or a placebo. The trials ran 7 to 52 weeks. Creatine groups gained 1.37 kg more lean tissue mass (95% CI 0.97 to 1.76). Chest press and leg press strength also rose more, by standardized mean differences of 0.35 and 0.24.7 The trials tested creatine in older adults during resistance training, not HMB or this product. The outcomes were lean mass and strength tests, not health outcomes.
  • Regulator recordOn Oct 20, 2026, FDA's recall data and warning letter search showed nothing under Transparent Labs.910 An empty result isn't a safety finding on its own.
