The verdict

Momentous Magnesium Bisglycinate gives you 200 mg of elemental magnesium in two capsules, and NSF lists it as Certified for Sport. A 30-day bottle is $16.99, about $207 a year at the label dose. The catch is that the sleep evidence Momentous cites comes from older adults with insomnia, not from trials of this product.

The trade-off

A bottle lasts only 30 days, and delivered bottles generally can't be returned.

About this price

This is the one-time price for the 60-capsule bottle. Momentous's online store lists one option, at $16.99 with no markdown, so no sale was set. The product page also gives $16.99 as its price. The page itself doesn't show the capsule count or a per-serving price. The count comes from the descriptions of the label photos on Momentous's store: "60 Capsules" and "Servings Per Container: 30". A recommended-products block on the page shows $12.74 next to a struck-through $16.99. That's the subscription price. All three plans (delivery every 1, 2 or 3 months) take 25% off the first order, which is $12.74, and 10% off later orders, which is $15.29. Subscription prices aren't used here. Prices are before tax and shipping.

A GOOD FIT FOR

You want a labeled 200 mg of magnesium bisglycinate in capsules, with an NSF sport listing, for under $17 a bottle.

  • An adult who wants a labeled 200 mg dose of magnesium bisglycinate in capsules rather than a powder
  • An athlete subject to drug testing who wants a magnesium listed in NSF's Certified for Sport database for all lots
  • A vegan, since the label is marked vegan and NSF lists it as free of animal ingredients

THINK TWICE IF

  • Anyone on diuretics, antibiotics or bisphosphonates who hasn't checked with a doctor, as Momentous itself advises
  • Anyone who wants sleep evidence from trials of this product, since none of the studies on the page tested it
  • Anyone who wants to be able to return an opened or unwanted bottle, since delivered products generally can't be returned
What still needs checking
  • Who supplies the magnesium bisglycinate: Momentous doesn't name a source
  • Per-batch test results: Momentous links a certificate of analysis page, which wasn't reviewed
  • Bottle dimensions and material
  • Whether the cited studies say what the page says, since they weren't checked against the papers

ReturnsMomentous's refund policy says it generally doesn't accept returns of delivered products…

Momentous's refund policy says it generally doesn't accept returns of delivered products, except where the law requires it. Original and return shipping costs aren't refundable either, with the same exception. The policy doesn't limit your rights under consumer protection laws, and it asks you to contact Momentous if there's a problem. It gives no return window. You generally have at least 60 minutes after ordering to make changes. If you bought from a retailer, the policy says to contact that retailer.

More about this assessment

Momentous Magnesium Bisglycinate gives you 200 mg of elemental magnesium in a two-capsule serving, 48% of the Daily Value. NSF's Certified for Sport database lists the 60-capsule product for all lots. A bottle lasts 30 days and costs $16.99 as a one-time purchase. At two capsules a night, refills come to about $207 a year. Momentous markets it for sleep and calm, but none of the studies it cites tested this product. The refund policy says delivered products generally can't be returned.

Strengths on paper

  • Under $17 a bottle, about $0.57 a serving at the one-time price
  • Four listed other ingredients, with a vegan, gluten-free and GMO-free label

Limitations

  • Momentous doesn't name its magnesium bisglycinate supplier or show test results on the product page
  • None of the studies Momentous cites tested it, and the FDA hasn't evaluated its sleep and calm claims
  • The product page doesn't show the capsule count, which appears only on the label images
  • The refund policy says delivered products generally can't be returned

Replacement parts & cost assumptions

Recorded recurring parts and refills:

  • Momentous Magnesium Bisglycinate 60-capsule bottle: $16.99 every 0.99 months. One bottle lasts 30 days (about 0.99 months) at the label dose of 2 capsules a day. The cost is the $16.99 one-time price on Momentous's online store. A subscription delivers every 1, 2 or 3 months, with 25% off the first order ($12.74) and 10% off later ones ($15.29). The one-time price is used here, without tax or shipping.
  • The purchase is the first bottle, at the $16.99 one-time price on Momentous's online store on Oct 13, 2026.
  • Annual refills at the label dose of 2 capsules a day: 365 servings / 30 per bottle x $16.99 = $206.71. On a subscription, deliveries after the first are 10% off, $15.29 a bottle, or about $186 a year. The estimate uses the one-time price, without tax or shipping.
  • The first bottle counts as the purchase, and refills cover three full years. So the three-year estimate includes about one bottle more than 1,095 nightly servings would need.

Evidence & sources.

Do creatine, fish oil, vitamin D and magnesium work? Our evidence review grades the research as Mixed. That grade is about the claim, not about this product.

  • CertificationNSF's Certified for Sport database lists "Magnesium Bisglycinate" by Momentous, lot # "All". The listing describes an unflavored capsule, 2 capsules per serving, package size 60, sold in the United States. Its product type is "Mineral/Sleep Aid/Vegan" and its listed goals are recovery and sleep aid. Its free-of claims are GMOs, ingredients of animal origin and gluten.4 Checked in NSF's own database, not just from the seal on the product page. The listing gives no certification date, product code or test results. A Certified for Sport listing isn't evidence that a product improves sleep, health or longevity.
  • Manufacturer claimMomentous says every batch is third-party tested and NSF Certified for Sport for purity, heavy metals and microbial contamination. It says the magnesium is chelated to glycine. It markets the product for sleep and calm. The page carries the FDA notice that these statements haven't been evaluated by the agency.12 These are Momentous's own statements about a dietary supplement. A certificate of analysis page is linked from the site footer but wasn't reviewed.
  • Manufacturer claimThe product page cites published studies, none of them on this product. As Momentous describes them, they include an 80-woman randomized trial of 300 mg a day of magnesium bisglycinate chelate for leg cramps in pregnancy (Supakatisant and colleagues, 2015). They also include a 2021 meta-analysis in older adults with insomnia, which the page says found oral magnesium cut the time to fall asleep by 17.4 minutes (Mah and Pitre). The page doesn't say which magnesium form that analysis covered. A 2017 review of 18 studies is cited for "suggestive" benefit on subjective anxiety (Boyle and colleagues).1 These summaries are Momentous's and weren't checked against the papers. The leg-cramp trial used 300 mg a day in pregnant women, more than this product's 200 mg serving. The insomnia analysis was in older adults, not the general population.
