SLEEP SYSTEM COSTS

How to compare bed cooling system costs

Compare bed cooling systems like for like. Match the source price to the same bed size, number of sleepers and included parts. Then separate subscriptions, return rules and recurring costs from the hardware price. Unknown costs stay unknown, not zero.

The bottom line

A lower starting price may cover a smaller bed, one sleeper or fewer included parts. Use source prices for the named configuration, then compare subscriptions, return terms and known recurring costs. These are documented prices, not checkout quotes.

Source-based analysis, not hands-on testing. Our method

Cofounder of Superhuman Chambers · About the author. General information, not medical advice. No independent clinical review is claimed.

In this article

Compare the same configuration

Start with the same bed size and the same number of sleepers. A dual-zone system may need two sides, a second control unit or a larger package. Check whether the source price includes the pad, control unit, hoses and any required accessories.

Keep a sale price separate from a regular price and note the date the source was checked. A source price is a snapshot for the named configuration. It is not an unverified live quote and may exclude tax, shipping, installation or delivery fees.

Separate hardware and recurring costs

List the hardware price first, then any subscription, replacement part, cleaning supply or electricity estimate that the sources support. A recurring cost belongs in the comparison only when its amount and schedule are documented.

Do not turn an unknown cost into zero. If a company does not publish a replacement schedule, power draw or required subscription, leave it unknown and say why. Our sleep methodology explains how those gaps affect a buying pick.

Read return rules before the price

Return windows, trial conditions, shipping charges and restocking rules can change the cost of a mistake. Check the policy for the exact system and configuration, especially if bedding has been opened or used.

The comparison below is a way to read the documented terms side by side. For model-level trade-offs, see our bed climate comparison.

Configuration and cost worksheet

These configurations cover different bed sizes and numbers of sleepers. They are not a cheapest-to-most-expensive ranking. Unknown costs are omitted from the known subtotal, never represented as zero or a complete total.

Eight Sleep Pod 6

Pod 6 Standard (two-zone Cover and Hub), Queen 60 x 80 in, no Base, Blanket or Pillow Cover. Autopilot membership billed separately

$2,899

Recorded Oct 13, 2026; not a live quote.

Eight Sleep's product page shows "Pod 6 Standard" at $2,899 without marking a size. That's the hardware price before tax. The launch release puts the Queen at $2,899, the Full at $2,699, and the King and California King at $2,999. The page's $3,198 total adds a year of Autopilot Enhanced, at $299 billed annually. No sale or strike-through price was shown, so the hardware price is treated as the list price.

Pod 6 Standard (two-zone Cover and Hub), Queen 60 x 80 in, no Base, Blanket or Pillow Cover. Autopilot membership billed separately

Purchase + installation + 3 × annual consumables and other recorded costs. Electricity excluded: actual power and usage must be entered separately.

Recurring-cost assumptions

Autopilot Enhanced, at $299 billed annually, is counted as an annual cost. It's the plan the product page adds to its $3,198 total, and you need it (or Elite) for the 5-year warranty the page advertises. The cheapest plan, Standard at $199 a year, would lower the three-year estimate by $300. But it carries only a 2-year warranty. Monthly billing costs more: $25 x 12 = $300 a year for Enhanced. An Eight Sleep help-center article says a membership is required for the first 12 months. The estimate assumes you keep it for all three years. The warranty also requires an active membership throughout coverage.

Installation is $0 because the Cover fits over the mattress like a fitted sheet and the Hub plugs in. Eight Sleep lists no paid installation or electrical work, and shipping is free.

Annual consumables are $0 because the only maintenance item found, the maintenance inserts, is listed as complimentary with every Autopilot plan. Eight Sleep doesn't state a water-change or insert schedule.

Electricity isn't annualized. The Hub's listed 550 W is an output rating, not an average draw. Eight Sleep doesn't state typical power use or nightly run time.

The estimate leaves out the add-ons: Base, Blanket and Pillow Cover. The product page says the Pillow Cover connects to a separate Hub, so its temperature is controlled independently of the Cover. It also shows automatic elevation in response to snoring as a Base feature.

Annual consumables: $0. Other annual costs: $299.

There's a 30-night trial, which Eight Sleep calls risk-free, with free shipping and free returns. To return a Pod, contact Eight Sleep support within 30 calendar days of the delivery date. Eight Sleep sends return shipping instructions and a prepaid return label. It says refunds are typically processed within 5 to 10 business days. You can return Pod 6 components individually within the 30-day window. Delivery to a freight forwarder, or rerouting to an unsupported country, voids return eligibility. The policy says each component must meet return requirements but doesn't define them. Eight Sleep doesn't say whether Autopilot fees are refunded.

One Sleeper (single zone), Half Queen: Dock, Hydrolayer, cover and nightstand remote

Purchase + installation + 3 × annual consumables and other recorded costs. Electricity excluded: actual power and usage must be entered separately.

Also missing: annual consumables. Not a complete cost.

Recurring-cost assumptions

Purchase is the $1,699 list price for the One Sleeper Half Queen kit, which cools or heats one side of the bed. For both sides you'd need the Two Sleepers option or a Companion system added later, and neither showed a price.

Installation is $0. The product page gives setup steps for owners and lists no installation service or fee.

Annual subscription is $0 because Sleepme says there are no subscription fees. It adds that premium features may be offered in the future, while core manual functions stay free.

Annual consumables are left unknown. The Dock needs distilled water refills, and setup uses one System Cleaner packet. Sleepme publishes no water volume, refill or cleaning schedule, or cleaner price.

Electricity cost is unknown because Sleepme doesn't publish the Dock's power draw.

Annual consumables: Unknown. Other annual costs: $0.

You get a 30-night sleep trial with free returns. A return starts with a Return Authorization, and refunds are issued within 30 days of receipt. Outside the contiguous US, you pay return shipping. Sleepme can't process returns for items bought through third-party retailers. Orders placed November 4 to December 25 get an extended trial through January 25 of the following year.

Sleepme Chilipad Cube

One Sleeper (single zone), Half King: Cube control unit, Cool Mesh Pad and remote

$719

Recorded Oct 13, 2026; not a live quote.

The $719 is a sale price on Sleepme's product page for the One Sleeper Half King. It was marked "Save 10%" against a $799 list price. It sat under a "10% Off Original Chilipad" banner marked "No Code Needed." It isn't a coupon or member price. The page said "Ships in 1-3 business days." The Half Cal King showed the same sale and list prices, and the Half Queen was out of stock. Two Sleeper (dual-zone) prices weren't shown. The price is before tax, and ground shipping is listed as free to the 48 contiguous states.

One Sleeper (single zone), Half King: Cube control unit, Cool Mesh Pad and remote

Purchase + installation + 3 × annual consumables and other recorded costs. Electricity excluded: actual power and usage must be entered separately.

Also missing: annual consumables. Not a complete cost.

Recurring-cost assumptions

The purchase price is the $719 sale price shown on October 13, 2026. At the $799 list price, the three-year estimate would be $80 higher.

Other annual costs are $0 because the product page says "No Subscription Fees" and says the Cube needs no app account.

Installation is $0 because the pad goes on the mattress and the control unit goes under or near the bed. Sleepme lists no paid installation or electrical work, and ground shipping is free to the 48 contiguous states.

Annual consumables are unknown, not $0. The product page has a Care & Maintenance heading with no text under it. It lists no prices or schedule for water, cleaning supplies or replacement parts.

Electricity isn't annualized because Sleepme doesn't state power draw or typical nightly run time on the product page.

Annual consumables: Unknown. Other annual costs: $0.

There's a 30-night sleep trial with free returns. Sleepme's warranty terms say the trial runs 30 days from delivery, and you must request a return within that period. Sleepme must then receive the product within 30 days of the request. Returns within the first 30 days aren't charged shipping and handling, but expedited shipping fees aren't refunded. If you buy from an authorized dealer, the dealer's return policy applies. Sleep-system purchases made November 4 through December 25 get an extended trial through January 25 of the following year. The pages checked don't state refund timing, minimum nights or packaging requirements.

Sleepme Dock Pro Sleep System

Chilipad 1.0 (the renamed Dock Pro), Two Sleepers, King: two temperature-controlled zones

$1,889

Recorded Oct 13, 2026; not a live quote.

Sale price for Chilipad 1.0, Two Sleepers, King on Sleepme's US Chilipad page, before tax. Sleepme sold this system as the Dock Pro. The old Dock Pro URL now redirects to the Chilipad page, which says Chilipad 1.0 was formerly the Chilipad Dock Pro. The price was marked "Save 30%" against $2,699, under a "Warehouse Sale - 30% Off" banner saying no code is needed, while supplies last. The Cal King showed the same prices, and the Queen was out of stock. The page showed no One Sleeper sizes or prices for 1.0. It wasn't marked Final Sale, and the page said it ships in 1 to 3 business days.

Chilipad 1.0 (the renamed Dock Pro), Two Sleepers, King: two temperature-controlled zones

Purchase + installation + 3 × annual consumables and other recorded costs. Electricity excluded: actual power and usage must be entered separately.

Recurring-cost assumptions

Purchase is the $1,889 sale price for the Two Sleepers King. At the $2,699 list price, the three-year estimate would be $810 higher.

Installation is $0. You set it up yourself, and standard shipping is free in the contiguous US.

Other annual costs are $0. The product page says there are no subscription fees, and Sleepme has dropped the Sleepme+ membership requirement for its Sleep Tracker.

Annual consumables are $176: one $88 System Cleaner 12 Pack a year for each of the two Docks. Sleepme's page doesn't list kit contents, so the two-Dock count comes from a retailer listing. With one Dock, it's $88.

Distilled water isn't counted because Sleepme gives no yearly volume. At $1.17 a gallon, it adds little.

Energy is unknown. The 235 W figure is each Dock's maximum rated power, not an average, and Sleepme doesn't say how long it runs each night.

Annual consumables: $176. Other annual costs: $0.

There's a 30-night sleep trial with free returns in the contiguous US. You start a return at Sleepme's Returns Center, and refunds are processed within 30 days of Sleepme receiving the product. Outside the contiguous US you pay return shipping, and expedited shipping fees aren't refunded. Sleepme can refuse a return or deduct from the refund if parts are missing or the system is used or damaged beyond what's reasonable. Final Sale items can't be returned, but the 1.0 listing carried no Final Sale label. Purchases made November 4 to December 25 get a trial through January 25 of the following year. The trial covers purchases from Sleepme's own sites and its official Amazon, eBay and Walmart pages. If you buy from another retailer, Sleepme can't process the return.

BedJet 3 Climate Comfort Sleep System

US BedJet 3 unit (single zone, 120 V) with remote; Cloud Sheet sold separately

$498

Recorded Oct 13, 2026; not a live quote.

Sale price on the official US page, shown against an original price of $699, before tax. US shipping is free. The price is for the BedJet 3 unit, which BedJet says works on any size bed. The size choice on the page is for the optional Cloud Sheet: Single Zone Twin XL $129, Queen/Full $139 or King $149. Dual Zone sheets cost the same in Queen/Full and King. The Cloud Sheet's own page shows these as sale prices against $139, $159 and $169. A 4-year protection plan is offered without a listed price. The page showed a low-inventory alert.

US BedJet 3 unit (single zone, 120 V) with remote; Cloud Sheet sold separately. Unit only; Cloud Sheet excluded.

Purchase + installation + 3 × annual consumables and other recorded costs. Electricity excluded: actual power and usage must be entered separately.

Recurring-cost assumptions

Purchase is the $498 sale price for the unit alone. Add $129 to $149 for a Single Zone Cloud Sheet, which BedJet recommends for best performance.

Installation is $0: setup is a few clip-on steps and a standard outlet, and BedJet lists no paid service.

Annual consumables are $0 because the washable filter is meant to last the life of the unit. A $19 spare is optional.

Annual other is $0 because the app is free and BedJet lists no subscription or paid app features.

Hours per day is 8, the nightly use BedJet assumes in its own cost figure. Watts is left unknown because the draw depends on the mode. Cooling at up to 40 W for 8 hours is at most 0.32 kWh a night, about 117 kWh a year. Heating draws 100 to 1,100 W, and BedJet doesn't say how long the heater runs each night.

Annual consumables: $0. Other annual costs: $0.

60-day return window from delivery for new products bought on BedJet.com. US buyers get a prepaid return label. There's no restocking fee if nothing is missing or damaged. Refunds are processed within 3 to 5 business days after BedJet receives the return. Returning part of a bundle removes the bundle discount. Certified refurbished units are final sale.

BedJet Dual Zone Climate Comfort Sleep System

US couples system; Queen/King/Adjustable Split King selection

$969

Recorded Oct 13, 2026; not a live quote.

Sale price on BedJet's US product page, under a "Fall Sale, up to 30% off" banner. The original price shown was $1,549, so $969 is about 37% off, more than the banner says. The page lists Queen, King and Adjustable Split King (with two Twin XL Cloud Sheets). It showed one price with no size selected, so King and Split King prices weren't confirmed. Before tax. BedJet lists free US shipping and says it's in stock and ships in one business day. Unchanged from the $969 recorded on Oct 10, 2026.
BedJet: BedJet Dual Zone Climate Comfort Sleep System for Couples (manufacturer, checked Oct 13, 2026)
$969 known subtotal

US couples system; Queen/King/Adjustable Split King selection

Purchase + installation + 3 × annual consumables and other recorded costs. Electricity excluded: actual power and usage must be entered separately.

Recurring-cost assumptions

Purchase is the $969 sale price shown on BedJet's US page (original $1,549). King and Split King prices weren't visible.

Installation is $0: you set it up yourself, and the page lists no installation service for this bundle.

Consumables are $0 a year: the filters are washable and BedJet says they never need replacing. A spare Mini filter is $19.

Annual other is $0. BedJet lists no subscription, and the app is free.

Hours per day is 8, the nightly use BedJet assumes in its own cost math. Watts is left unknown because BedJet gives only per-mode maximums, not an average draw.

Cooling at up to 80 W for both units over 8 hours is at most 0.64 kWh a night, about 234 kWh a year. Heat mode draws 300 to 1,100 W combined, and BedJet doesn't say how long the heater runs each night.

A spare Cloud Sheet for laundry days is optional. The product page lists one extra sheet at $139 or $149 and a pair at $258, without saying which size each price is for.
