The six systems side by side
The Chilipad 2.0’s $1,699 covers one side of a Queen, with no subscription8. In a cooler room, BedJet 3 is the cheapest start at $498 on sale, and its Cloud Sheet adds $129 to $149, also on sale11. BedJet Dual Zone gives each partner their own air for $969 on sale13.
If you share a King and want water on both sides with no fee, Chilipad 1.0 is $1,889 on sale16. It has a 1-year warranty and is sold only while stock lasts1621.
Prices are US prices on each maker’s page, before tax, checked on October 13, 2026. Four were sale prices, marked below. The prices don’t buy the same amount of bed. The Pod 6, Chilipad 1.0 and BedJet Dual Zone cover both sides. Chilipad 2.0 and the Cube cover one, and BedJet 3 runs the whole bed at one setting189111316. Figures are the makers’ own, except where a cell also cites a launch report or a retailer listing.

Which bed cooling system should you buy?
These are picks for different needs, not a ranking. The first question is how warm your bedroom gets. The second is whether one person or two want their own setting.
- You want a 55°F low on your side, with no subscription: Chilipad 2.0. Sleepme lists 55°F to 115°F, and the kit includes a nightstand remote8. It works without Wi-Fi, and the warranty is 2 years8. The catch: $1,699 covers one side of a Queen, and Sleepme didn’t price the two-sleeper kit8. It also runs on distilled water, and Sleepme doesn’t publish power draw or a noise level8.
- You share the bed and want both sides set separately from one purchase: Pod 6. The $2,899 Queen covers both sides, each from 55°F to 110°F14. The Cover carries 18 sensors for sleep and health tracking4. The catch: every Pod 6 needs Autopilot at $199 to $399 a year34. The 5-year warranty needs the $299 or $399 plan, kept active the whole time23.
- You share a King and want water on both sides without a yearly fee: Chilipad 1.0, the renamed Dock Pro. Sleepme lists 55°F to 115°F21. A Two Sleepers King is $1,889 on sale16. That’s $1,110 less than a King Pod 6, with no membership1416. The catch: the warranty is 1 year, and there’s no bedside remote1621. Each Dock needs an $88 pack of cleaner a year, at its sale price1719. It’s also sold only while stock lasts16.
- You want water cooling for the least money: Chilipad Cube. It’s $719 on sale for one side of a King, with no app or subscription9. The catch: Sleepme says it cools the bed only about 10°F below room air, so a warm room limits it9. The standard warranty is 1 year10.
- Your bedroom stays below 79°F and one setting suits the whole bed: BedJet 3. It’s $498 on sale, plus $129 to $149 for the Cloud Sheet, also on sale11. There’s no water to refill, and cooling draws up to 40 W11. The catch: the 66°F low depends on the room, and heating can draw up to 1,100 W11.
- You’re a couple who want different temperatures without a yearly fee: BedJet Dual Zone. Each side gets its own unit and remote for $969 on sale, $1,930 less than a Queen Pod 61413. Returns are open for 60 days13. The catch: BedJet says cooling works best below 79°F13. Its page also didn’t show King or Split King prices13.
Air or water cooling: what changes
BedJet ties its cooling to your room. It says the low end of its 66°F to 109°F range depends on room temperature, and that it can’t replace air conditioning above 79°F1113. The Cube has a similar limit: Sleepme says it cools the bed about 10°F below room air, though the same page says “as low as 60°F”9. Eight Sleep and Sleepme list 55°F lows for the Pod 6 and Chilipad 2.018. These are all the makers’ figures, not independent measurements.
BedJet is the only maker here that publishes power draw by mode, so only its running cost can be worked out. Cooling takes up to 40 W for BedJet 3 and 80 W for both Dual Zone units1113. Heating draws up to 1,100 W on either, and Turbo mode more for up to 10 minutes1113. Eight Sleep gives only the Hub’s 550 W output rating1. Sleepme rates each Dock Pro at 235 W maximum, which isn’t an average, and gives no figure for Chilipad 2.0 or the Cube8918. So running costs for the water systems are unknown.
Water also means upkeep. The Chilipad 2.0 runs on distilled water and a System Cleaner, and its page gives no cost or schedule for either8. For Chilipad 1.0, the Dock Pro manual calls for a cleaner packet and a water top-off each month per Dock17. A 12 Pack of cleaner is $88 on sale, down from $9619. Eight Sleep includes maintenance inserts with every plan but gives no schedule either3. BedJet has no water at all, just washable filters1114.
No maker here publishes a noise level in decibels189111316. Sleepme calls the Chilipad 2.0 quieter than earlier generations, and BedJet calls its units whisper-quiet, without figures811. BedJet’s own manual says Turbo mode’s heat and noise are too much for extended use or sleep14.
What it costs to cool both sides of the bed
A Queen Pod 6 is $2,899 and a King is $2,999, with both sides included14. BedJet Dual Zone is $969 on sale, though its page didn’t show a separate King price13. Two Half King Cubes would come to $1,438 on sale or $1,598 at list, and Sleepme says you can add the second one later9. Sleepme didn’t price a two-sleeper Chilipad 2.0, so it can’t be compared yet8. Chilipad 1.0 does cover both sides, at $1,889 on sale for a King or Cal King, down from $2,69916. Its three-year total at sale prices, with cleaner for two Docks, is $2,417 before water and electricity161920.
A single BedJet 3 with a full-bed Cloud Sheet also covers both of you, but at one setting11.
Does the Eight Sleep Pod 6 need a membership?
Eight Sleep’s launch release says every Pod 6 needs an Autopilot membership4. The plans cost $199, $299 or $399 a year, or $17, $25 or $33 a month3. Over three years, a Queen with the $299 plan comes to $3,796 before electricity34. The $199 plan saves $300 but cuts the warranty from 5 years to 23.
Eight Sleep’s help center says a membership is required for the first 12 months, but it doesn’t name a Pod generation6. The launch release doesn’t say what still works if you cancel4. The warranty also lapses without an active plan, so budget for the fee as long as you want coverage2. Eight Sleep also doesn’t say whether plan fees come back if you return the Pod during the 30-night trial5.
What the pages don’t settle
None of the three makers states an FDA clearance18911131617. Eight Sleep calls the Pod 6 sensors “clinical-grade” and says it’s pursuing FDA clearance, which is a plan, not a clearance14. The “up to 45%” snoring claim on Eight Sleep’s pages belongs to the Base add-on, which isn’t part of the kit priced here13.
BedJet’s pages claim “clinically proven results” but name no study, and a Europe PMC search found no published research on BedJet111315. BedJet’s figure that 96% of owners sleep better comes from a survey of 1,281 owners, not a controlled study11. Sleepme says the Chilipad 2.0 and the Cube put no EMFs in your bed but gives no measurement89. Sleepme’s HSA and FSA eligibility is a way to pay, not evidence of a health effect8916.
Pod 5 Core and Dock Pro: what replaced them
Both now have successors. Eight Sleep’s Pod page now sells only Pod 6, and a launch report says Pod 6 replaces Pod 517. Pod 6’s Cover has 18 sensors, where Pod 5’s had two4. Eight Sleep’s warranty still covers Pod 5, but only with an active membership and only for Pods bought from eightsleep.com2. A secondhand or marketplace Pod 5 isn’t covered2.
Sleepme calls the Chilipad 2.0 a ground-up advancement of the Dock Pro, which it now sells as Chilipad 1.0816. It offers no trade-in for Dock Pro owners8. Chilipad 1.0 is in the table above. Next to 2.0, it has a 1-year warranty instead of 2 and no bedside remote1621. Sleepme also says the 2.0 Dock is quieter21.
