RED LIGHT PANEL COMPARISON

Joovv vs Mito Red Light: Solo 3.0 and MitoPRO X panels compared

We review one Joovv panel, the Solo 3.0, and three MitoPRO X sizes from Mito Red Light. All four are red and near-infrared panels, $449 to $1,699 on October 23, 2026. Every figure here comes from the makers, FDA and safety listings, or a lab Mito says it commissioned. None of it shows the dose at your distance or any health effect.

The bottom line

Choose Joovv’s $1,699 Solo 3.0 to build a system of paired Joovv panels. Choose a MitoPRO X for six wavelengths, a three-year warranty and a mount or stand in the box. FDA lists all four as infrared heating lamps, not cleared devices, and none has output published at the distance you’d sit.

Joovv vs Mito Red Light: the four panels side by side

Joovv’s Solo 3.0 is a 36-inch panel with two wavelengths and app control1. Mito Red Light’s MitoPRO X comes in three sizes with the same six wavelengths, from the 14.5-inch 300X to the 43-inch 1500X46. The MitoPRO 1500X and 750X are the red light guide’s picks for full-body and half-body panels.

Prices are US prices on each maker’s own page, before tax, checked on October 23, 2026. Joovv’s is a sale price. Figures are the makers’ own unless a cell names a lab or an FDA record.

Joovv or Mito: which one fits which need

Each suits a different need, and this isn’t a ranking. Start with how much of your body you want to cover from one spot. Then check what you’ll need to mount it.

  • You want a system of Joovv panels you can grow: Joovv Solo 3.0. It runs from an iOS and Android app with Recovery+ pulsing, ambient and alarm-clock modes1. It also pairs with other Joovv panels by Bluetooth or cable to build a bigger setup1. Joovv says Intertek certified its Generation 3.0 devices to IEC 60601 medical electrical safety requirements1. The catch: it’s $1,699 on sale, $400 more than the 1500X, and Joovv rates it for moderate coverage124. Its box has no mounting hardware, and Joovv doesn’t show what a door, wall or stand setup costs12.
  • You want one panel for full-body sessions: MitoPRO 1500X. It’s $1,299 for a 10 by 43 inch panel that Mito rates for the full body4. A door hook, steel cables and straps come in the box, so you don’t need a stand4. It’s the red light guide’s pick for a full-body panel. The catch: Mito publishes output only at 6 inches, half the closest distance it recommends410. You also pay return shipping on a 25 lb panel unless you bought Mito’s optional protection9.
  • You want your upper or lower body per session: MitoPRO 750X. It’s $749 for a 10 by 23 inch, 15 lb panel with the same six wavelengths and door kit as the 1500X5. The MitoPRO 750X is the guide’s pick for a half-body panel. The catch: covering your whole body means moving it between sessions or buying a second panel5. Mito’s spectroradiometer figure for it is less than half the consumer-meter number beside it, and its outside-lab retest is still listed as in progress511.
  • You want your face, neck or one joint, on a table: MitoPRO 300X. It’s $449 with a tabletop stand in the box, the same six wavelengths as the bigger MitoPRO X panels and dimming from 1 to 100%68. Mito reports a lab average of 38.2 mW/cm² at 6 inches10. The catch: it covers only small areas, and the manual’s door-hanging steps skip it68. The lab’s test row lists only 660 and 850 nm, so it may not be the current six-wavelength panel10.

Joovv vs Mito output: why the numbers don’t line up

Irradiance, in mW/cm², is the light power reaching your skin, and it drops as you step back. So a figure helps only with a distance and a named meter or lab. Joovv gives over 100 mW/cm² for the Solo 3.0 and names no distance12. That’s Joovv’s own figure, not an independent measurement1.

Mito shows two figures at 6 inches for each MitoPRO X size. One is from a professional spectroradiometer, and a higher one is from a consumer solar meter46. For the 1500X they’re over 73 and over 160 mW/cm². For the 750X they’re over 70 and over 160, and for the 300X over 56 and over 13046.

Mito also reports results from LightLab International Allentown, which Mito describes as an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited lab. Mito says it commissioned the tests at standard commercial rates and has no ownership stake in the lab10. On Sep 12, 2025, LightLab measured the 1500X at a 53.5 mW/cm² average and a 72.5 peak at 6 inches10. That’s about a third of the consumer-meter figure. It measured the 300X at a 38.2 average and a 55.9 peak10. Mito’s test-data page lists the 750X’s retest as in progress11.

Two gaps remain. Every Mito figure is at 6 inches, but Mito tells you to sit 12 to 18 inches away, where output is lower and unpublished48. The lab’s table lists the 1500X as 42 by 9 inches and the 300X as 14 by 9 inches, each with only 660 and 850 nm10. Mito doesn’t explain the difference from its six-wavelength panels. It sends the full reports only on request, and the instrument isn’t named10.

FDA status and safety listings: listed, not cleared

FDA’s device identifier database lists the Joovv Solo 3.0 (model PT500-F0486) under product code ILY, “Lamp, Infrared, Therapeutic Heating”3. It’s listed as exempt from premarket submission, over the counter and in commercial distribution3. Joovv labels the Solo 3.0 a Class II medical device, and its product page doesn’t mention FDA clearance1.

FDA’s registration and listing data show Mito Red Light listing the MitoPRO X series under the same ILY code12. That’s a Class 2 device under 21 CFR 890.5500, which FDA exempts from 510(k) review13. The listing carries no 510(k) number12. The 510(k) numbers on Mito’s other listings belong to its MitoGLOW mask, MitoGROW and MitoCLEAR12. Mito’s pages call the panels “FDA Class II Registered” and also say its products “have not been evaluated by the Food & Drug Administration”46.

A device record or listing like these isn’t FDA clearance or approval. It also isn’t a finding that a panel works for any health use312.

Electrical safety is a separate question. Joovv says Intertek tested and certified its Generation 3.0 devices to applicable IEC 60601 medical electrical safety requirements, but it doesn’t publish the certificate1. Intertek’s ETL directory lists the MitoPRO 300X, 750X and 1500X under UL 1598, a light-fixture standard, as horticultural (grow-light) luminaires14. That isn’t a medical electrical safety listing. UL’s Product iQ lists the 1500X under General Medical Equipment without naming the standards15. Mito’s product page lists IEC 60601 standards, ISO 13485 and MDSAP, with no certificate posted6.

Price, mounting and running costs

Joovv’s $1,699 is a sale price, checked on October 23, 2026. Its page gives $1,799 as the regular price and shows no end date12. Shipping and taxes are calculated at checkout1. Mito’s three panels are $449, $749 and $1,299 with no sale, checked the same day, and Mito advertises free shipping to the lower 48 states46. A 750X and 1500X bundle is $1,948, $100 less than buying both, and two of each is $3,6964.

Mounting is the open cost with Joovv. Its box holds the panel, a power cord, eyewear and a manual, with no mounting hardware listed1. Door, wall, stand and tabletop-stand setups are chosen through a separate selector, and Joovv doesn’t show their prices12. So the cost of a mounted Solo 3.0 is unknown.

The 1500X and 750X come with an over-the-door hook, steel hanging cables and four vinyl straps, so a stand is optional45. Mito’s floor stand is $139 and its universal stand is $34945. With a stand, the 750X comes to $888 or $1,0985. The 300X’s tabletop stand is in the box. Mito sells the floor stand only for the 750X and 1500X, so a floor setup for the 300X means the universal stand, $798 in all68. Mito’s manual gives no weight limit for the door hook8.

Neither maker lists bulbs, filters or a subscription for these panels14. Mito’s App Store listing shows its app as free with no in-app purchases16. Joovv doesn’t say whether its app is free1. At six 10-minute sessions a week, the 1500X uses about 21 kWh a year at its 418.7 W lab reading410. The 300X uses about 6.4 kWh at its listed 125 W6. Joovv lists 250 VA but no session length, so its running cost is unknown1.

Warranty and returns

Mito’s warranty is three years from delivery on every MitoPRO X panel, for the original purchaser only9. Mito doesn’t repair panels or supply parts. It replaces an eligible unit, and you send back the whole product9. Mito pays for the return label only in the first 180 days, so after that you pay to ship a claim9.

Joovv’s warranty is two years, per a badge on its product page and a tag on its store12. The page gives no coverage terms or exclusions1.

Both give you 60 days to send a panel back. Mito’s trial runs from delivery with no restocking fee9. The panel must go back in its original packaging, postmarked within the 60 days9. You pay return shipping unless you added Free Returns & Package Protection at checkout, and Mito doesn’t state that option’s price9. Shipping fees and the protection fee aren’t refunded, and shipping damage must be reported within 10 days of delivery9.

Joovv lists a 60-day return period on its product page and a 60-day trial on its store12. The product page links to a Returns page but gives no return conditions or return-shipping costs1. Ask Joovv who pays shipping on a return before you order.

What the figures don’t tell you

Joovv doesn’t publish device-specific clinical evidence for the Solo 3.01. Mito’s lab results cover light output and power draw, not effects on skin, muscles or joints10. Neither tells you the dose you’ll get at the distance you sit.

Our red light evidence review covers what studies of red and near-infrared light found. The full-length panel comparison sets the Solo 3.0 and 1500X beside four other panels, and the three-year cost page covers what each device costs to own.
