The three memberships side by side
Function’s renewal price isn’t stated, and its refunds end 48 hours after purchase or once a specimen is collected235. Superpower adds a priced home draw and a one-time refund window in the first term, but it costs $599 a year in New York and New Jersey689. InsideTracker’s panel covers up to 54 biomarkers, and at one test a year it costs the most of the three over three years1112. Trials of general health checks found little or no effect on deaths15.
Prices are US list prices on each company’s official pages, before tax, checked on October 13, 2026. Prices, counts and terms are the companies’ own, and the three-year costs are our arithmetic. Where a cell says something isn’t stated, we didn’t find it on the pages checked.
| Question | Function Health Membership | Superpower Membership | InsideTracker Membership + Ultimate |
|---|---|---|---|
| US price | $365 for the first year, charged annually. Renewal price not stated2 | $349 a year, or $599 in New York and New Jersey. A limited-time $199-a-year offer on a comparison page is a promotional price, so it isn’t used69 | $489 new-customer bundle: the annual membership (listed at $149 a year) plus one Ultimate test. No sale price shown1112 |
| Draws in a year | Two: an annual visit with 100+ lab tests, then a 60+ test follow-up 3 to 6 months later13 | Two: a 100+ biomarker baseline and a 50+ biomarker retest, counted as 150+ biomarkers. The homepage puts the retest 3 to 6 months later67 | One Ultimate test. Member retests cost $340 each, and InsideTracker suggests retesting every 3 to 6 months1112 |
| How the count is stated | Lab tests: 160+ a year across both visits13 | Biomarkers, with different figures on different Superpower pages. Included biomarkers vary by state69 | Up to 54 biomarkers per test. The pages checked don’t list them12 |
| Where blood is drawn | 2,000+ Quest locations. A home or office draw in select areas is a separate purchase with no price shown135 | 2,000+ partner lab locations, or at home for $119 extra. Superpower doesn’t say whether the fee applies to each draw69 | A lab, most often Quest Diagnostics, or a mobile draw for $119 extra. The product page says the mobile draw is required in New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Hawaii, Arizona and Canada11 |
| Preparation | Fast for 8 hours3 | Not stated on the pages checked | Fast at least 12 hours and draw in the morning. No strenuous exercise for 48 hours, or alcohol and supplements for 24 hours, before11 |
| Turnaround | First results typically start arriving within 48 hours of testing. The How it works page says results are ready around 2 weeks after an at-home draw34 | About 1 week. Superpower also says 10 days or less67 | Within 7 business days of the draw11 |
| Who reviews results | Clinicians review every result and add a summary and action items, per Function13 | An app with Superpower AI and an on-demand care team of licensed physicians, nurse practitioners and pharmacists. The FAQ says the concierge replies within 1 business day67 | Not stated. The terms say a licensed clinician may order the tests without forming a doctor-patient relationship. Results come with zero-to-100 scores in 10 healthspan categories and an Action Plan1114 |
| Lab statements | Quest is named as the lab partner. CLIA or CAP accreditation isn’t stated. Function says it’s a technology company, not a lab or medical provider135 | Labcorp, Quest Diagnostics or another third-party lab. Many assays are described as run in CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited labs, and some as lab-developed tests not cleared or approved by the FDA810 | The terms describe partner labs as CLIA-certified. CAP accreditation isn’t mentioned14 |
| Who and where | Adults 18+ who aren’t currently pregnant, in 48 states (not yet Rhode Island, Hawai’i or Puerto Rico). In New York and New Jersey, the terms say the lab may bill some fees to you directly, in amounts not stated235 | Adults 18+ in the US. The FAQ lists nine states not served (AK, AR, HI, LA, MS, ND, RI, SD, WY). The homepage’s live-state list includes five of them and leaves out five others68 | Adults 18+. Sold in the US and Canada. Insulin testing isn’t available in Canada, and a mobile draw is required in five states and Canada111214 |
| Renewal | Billed annually. Auto-renews at the then-current price, and you can’t pause235 | Auto-renews at the then-current non-promotional rate. No cancellation fee689 | The membership renews annually at a price not stated. Purchased tests must be used within 2 years and can be transferred1113 |
| Refunds | A full refund only if you cancel within 48 hours of first purchase and before any specimen is collected. Nonrefundable after that. The FAQ says Function doesn’t refund prior payments35 | A one-time Satisfaction Refund of the full base fee in the first term. You must ask by 7 days after results or 45 days after your start date, whichever comes first. Otherwise it’s non-refundable. The FAQ says Superpower doesn’t offer refunds, apart from one before the first test if HSA/FSA reimbursement is declined78 | Possibly a full refund within 30 days of purchase if the blood test is unused, and none once blood is drawn. The help center says membership purchases aren’t refundable, without saying how that applies to the bundle13 |
| Cancelling | Cancel and rejoin anytime. Cancellation generally takes effect at the end of the billing cycle35 | The agreement says cancelling takes effect immediately and ends concierge, marketplace and clinical access, leaving read-only data. The homepage FAQ says the membership stays active through the paid year68 | Cancel any time in your account, effective for the next annual period13 |
| HSA/FSA | Listed as HSA/FSA eligible, subject to your plan, with an itemized receipt13 | Described as HSA/FSA eligible, with an itemized receipt on request67 | HSA/FSA payment through Truemed for eligible US customers11 |
| Three-year cost, known items only | $1,095 if renewal stays at $365 a year, which Function doesn’t promise. Home draws, add-on tests and imaging aren’t included2 | $1,047 at $349 a year, or $1,797 in New York and New Jersey. Home draws and add-on tests aren’t included69 | $1,467 at one $340 test a year and an assumed $149-a-year renewal. Two single tests a year make it $829 a year. Mobile draws aren’t included1112 |
| Outcome evidence found | No trial of the membership. A Cochrane review found general health checks had little or no effect on total mortality15 | No trial of the membership found | One InsideTracker-funded observational analysis of 1,032 users with no control group. It tracked biomarker changes, not health outcomes16 |
Which blood test membership should you get?
These are picks for different needs, not a ranking. All three draw blood at a lab network and put results online1611. So the choice comes down to how many draws you want, who reviews the results, where you live and what you can get back.
- Two draws and clinician review at a stated first-year price: Function Health. $365 covers an annual visit and a follow-up 3 to 6 months later at 2,000+ Quest locations, and clinicians review every result13. The catch: it renews at an unstated then-current price, and a full refund is possible only within 48 hours and before any specimen. Home draws and add-on tests have no published price, and the only imaging price shown is the Annual MRI, at $999 for members235.
- The lowest list fee and a refund window: Superpower. $349 a year covers two draws, a home draw is priced at $119, and the Membership Agreement offers a one-time Satisfaction Refund in the first term689. The catch: it’s $599 a year in New York and New Jersey, and the retest covers fewer markers than the baseline. Its pages disagree on which states it serves and whether refunds are offered. Superpower also says some tests are lab-developed tests not cleared or approved by the FDA610.
- One panel with an Action Plan and paid retests: InsideTracker. $489 buys a year of membership and one test of up to 54 biomarkers, with results within 7 business days1112. You get scores across 10 healthspan categories and an Action Plan11. The catch: every retest costs extra, at $340 for one test or $578 for a members-only 2-pack12. The renewal price and biomarker list aren’t published1112. Refunds end once blood is drawn, and the $119 mobile draw is required in five states and Canada1113.
What each membership costs over one year and three
In the first year, Superpower’s $349 is the lowest list fee. Function’s $365 is $16 more. InsideTracker’s $489 bundle is $124 more than Function’s, and it includes one draw, not two2611. Adding one $340 retest to InsideTracker’s bundle brings your first year to $8291112. Its new-customer bundle with two tests costs $761, shown as a 10% saving on $82912.
Over three years, if each renews at today’s price, Superpower comes to $1,047, Function to $1,095 and InsideTracker to $1,467 at one test a year261112. That assumption is the weak point. Function renews at the then-current price, Superpower at the then-current non-promotional rate, and InsideTracker doesn’t state a renewal price2811.
All three can cost more in New York and New Jersey. Superpower charges $599 a year there, or $1,797 over three years9. Function says its $365 first year includes full access in every state except those two2. Its terms say the lab may bill you directly for some or all lab fees there, and Function doesn’t say how much5. InsideTracker requires its $119 mobile draw there11.
What stays the same
All three draw blood at a lab network rather than by finger prick, and all offer a home or mobile draw at extra cost145811. All three put results online and say they don’t provide diagnosis or medical advice through the membership1581114. All three name Quest. Superpower’s agreement adds that Labcorp or another third-party lab may run the tests16811.
Each sells tests beyond the core panel, such as Function’s add-on tests and imaging, Superpower’s specialty panels and InsideTracker’s DNA test. None of those extras is in the costs above2813.
What the marketing doesn’t settle
Marker counts aren’t like for like. Function counts lab tests, and Superpower counts biomarkers but gives different baseline figures on different pages. InsideTracker says up to 54 biomarkers without listing them167912. A bigger count isn’t evidence of more useful results. Our evidence review explains which blood tests guidelines back for healthy adults.
Outcome evidence is thin for all three. A Cochrane review of randomized trials found general health checks in adults had little or no effect on total mortality (RR 1.00, 95% CI 0.97 to 1.03; 11 trials, 233,298 participants; high certainty)15. Those trials tested health checks in general, not these panels. InsideTracker says 80% of its customers improve at least one at-risk biomarker, without giving a method or comparison group11. The only published analysis of its users we found was funded by InsideTracker. It followed 1,032 self-selected subscribers with no control group and measured biomarker changes, not health outcomes16.
Lab statements are the companies’ own. Function’s pages don’t state CLIA or CAP accreditation, and we haven’t checked Superpower’s or InsideTracker’s claims against CMS or CAP listings11014. Superpower says some of its tests are lab-developed tests not cleared or approved by the FDA10. It also says it’s LegitScript certified, which we haven’t checked against LegitScript’s own listing6.
