The verdict

WHOOP Peak is a $239-a-year membership that comes with a WHOOP 5.0 strap, Wireless PowerPack and band. It adds Healthspan, Stress Monitor and Health Monitor alerts to the basic Recovery, Sleep and Strain scores. There's no hardware price up front, but the fee recurs every year and the lifetime warranty lasts only while you keep paying.

The trade-off

It costs $717 over three years with no hardware-only option listed, has no display, and leaves ECG and blood pressure features to the $359-a-year Life tier.

About this price

WHOOP's US membership page shows Peak as "Available at $239/yr", including a WHOOP 5.0 device, Wireless PowerPack and SuperKnit band. Only annual pricing is shown, with no separate hardware price. The price is before tax and shipping, and it isn't a sale price. The page also offers a 1-month free trial of Peak. The trial comes with different hardware from the paid membership: a certified pre-owned 5.0 device, a Basic Charger and a CoreKnit band.

A GOOD FIT FOR

Anyone who wants daily recovery and sleep scores plus WHOOP Age and health alerts, and would rather pay $239 a year than buy a device outright.

  • You want daily Recovery, Sleep and Strain scores from a strap with no display, and you're fine with a $239 yearly fee
  • You want WHOOP's Healthspan, Pace of Aging and Health Monitor alerts without paying $359 a year for Life
  • You'd rather pay yearly than pay a large hardware price up front, and WHOOP says it accepts HSA or FSA funds through Truemed

THINK TWICE IF

  • Anyone who won't pay an ongoing annual fee, since the membership page lists no hardware-only price
  • Anyone who wants the time, notifications or GPS on their wrist, since the strap has no display or built-in GPS
  • Anyone who wants the ECG feature WHOOP describes as FDA-cleared, or its Blood Pressure Insights, since WHOOP keeps both to the $359-a-year Life tier on WHOOP MG
  • Anyone under 18, since WHOOP says Healthspan isn't available to them
What still needs checking
  • Device dimensions, weight and water resistance rating
  • Sensor types and published accuracy for WHOOP 5.0 specifically
  • Renewal price, auto-renewal terms and what the strap does after the membership ends
  • How WHOOP Age and Pace of Aging are calculated, and whether anyone has independently validated them
  • Shipping cost and cancellation terms after the 30-day return window
  • FDA status of Peak features beyond WHOOP's own statements (FDA databases weren't checked)

More about this assessment

WHOOP Peak is the middle of WHOOP's three annual memberships, at $239 a year in the US. There's no separate hardware price: the membership includes a WHOOP 5.0 device, a Wireless PowerPack and a SuperKnit band. WHOOP says the strap has no display or built-in GPS and lasts 14+ days on a charge. Peak adds Healthspan, Pace of Aging, a real-time Stress Monitor and Health Monitor alerts to the Recovery, Sleep and Strain scores. Three years comes to $717 before tax, and the lifetime warranty lasts only while the membership stays active. The ECG feature WHOOP describes as FDA-cleared is only on the $359-a-year Life tier.

Strengths on paper

  • No upfront hardware cost: the 5.0 device, Wireless PowerPack and band come with the membership
  • WHOOP rates the battery at 14+ days, and the included PowerPack charges the strap while it stays on your wrist
  • Lifetime warranty with replacement while the membership stays active
  • 30 days to cancel and return for a full refund, minus shipping

Limitations

  • You pay every year: $717 over three years at the listed price
  • The warranty depends on an active membership bought directly from WHOOP
  • No display, so you read everything in the app
  • WHOOP doesn't publish dimensions, weight, water resistance or sensor types on the pages checked
  • Published accuracy data cover earlier WHOOP straps, not 5.0, and sleep-stage agreement was only moderate (kappa 0.46)

What it costs to own.

Adjust the assumptions for your use. Missing costs stay unknown.

PLAN YOUR OWNERSHIP COSTS

What will it cost to own?

Change the assumptions to fit your use. Leave an unknown cost blank. Add water, subscriptions, cleaning, shipping and taxes if they apply. Use average operating power, not the maximum rating.

3-year known subtotal

$717.00

Incomplete: energy use. This is not the full ownership cost.

Energy component: Unknown

Purchase + installation + years × (annual consumables + annual other) + watts/1000 × hours/day × 365 × years × $/kWh. Annualized allowances, not an exact replacement schedule. Excludes taxes, shipping, finance and resale unless entered.
Replacement parts & cost assumptions

No scheduled consumable is listed. That does not mean zero maintenance or repair costs.

  • WHOOP lists no separate hardware price, since the 5.0 device, PowerPack and band come with the membership. So the purchase price is $0, and the $239 yearly Peak fee goes under other annual costs. Three years comes to 3 x $239 = $717 before tax.
  • This assumes the membership renews at $239 each year. The membership page doesn't state renewal pricing or auto-renewal terms. The estimate doesn't deduct the 1-month free trial.
  • WHOOP lists no replaceable parts or refills, so annual consumables are $0. It doesn't state charging power draw, so energy cost is unknown.
  • Moving up to Life ($359 a year) would add $120 a year, or $360 over three years. WHOOP says upgrades are prorated.

Evidence & sources.

How accurate are sleep trackers? Our evidence review grades the research as Moderate. That grade is about the claim, not about this product.

  • Manufacturer claimPrice, tier contents, battery life, charging, warranty, return terms and feature lists come from WHOOP's membership page, launch release and blog articles.14 Manufacturer information, not independent testing.
  • Manufacturer claimWHOOP describes an FDA-cleared ECG feature that's available only on WHOOP MG with the Life membership. WHOOP doesn't describe any Peak feature as FDA-cleared. The membership page says Healthspan "is for wellness purposes only and not for medical use."13 This is regulatory status as WHOOP states it. The FDA 510(k) and De Novo databases weren't checked.
  • Published studyA 2024 systematic review looked at studies comparing wrist trackers with polysomnography or ambulatory EEG. It included four WHOOP comparisons, from studies of 5 to 53 participants. WHOOP's pooled total sleep time bias was -1.4 minutes. It detected sleep with 91.7% sensitivity, but its specificity for detecting wake was about 56%. Sleep-stage agreement was 62%, with a kappa of 0.46. Of the three devices reviewed, WHOOP's REM sleep estimate disagreed most with the reference.5 Independent review funded by Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship, with no conflicts declared. It didn't name the WHOOP generation. It was published in March 2024, before WHOOP 5.0 launched in May 2025. The underlying studies were small, and the authors say all devices need better sleep-stage classification.
