The verdict

Ultrahuman Ring PRO is a $479 titanium smart ring with temperature, PPG and motion sensors, and its PRO Charging Case is included. Ultrahuman rates the battery at up to 15 days and says you pay no recurring fees to access your data. Owning it for three years costs the purchase price unless you add optional PowerPlugs or UltrahumanX coverage.

The trade-off

Ultrahuman publishes no Ring PRO accuracy figures on the pages checked, some features are paid PowerPlugs, and theft and loss cover needs the $54 two-year UltrahumanX plan.

About this price

Ultrahuman's US Ring PRO buy page listed it at $479 when shipping to the United States. The charging case was marked FREE, the order total was $479, and shipping and tax were calculated at checkout. No sale, strikethrough, coupon or member price was shown. All four finishes cost the same. Ultrahuman's Ring PRO vs Ring AIR comparison page also lists $479. The listed price doesn't reflect the trade-in offer (save up to $115), the unpriced 'Heroes Of The World' special pricing or Klarna and Affirm split payments.

A GOOD FIT FOR

Anyone in a whole ring size from 5 to 14 who wants long battery life and would rather pay $479 once than pay a yearly membership.

  • You want a ring-based wellness tracker and would rather pay once than keep paying a membership
  • You want to charge rarely: Ultrahuman rates it at up to 15 days per charge and up to 45 days between wall charges with the included case
  • You wear a whole ring size from 5 to 14
  • You plan to pay with HSA or FSA funds, which the US page says the ring is eligible for

THINK TWICE IF

  • Anyone who needs a half size, since Ring PRO comes in whole sizes only
  • Anyone who wants published accuracy figures for Ring PRO itself, since none were found on the pages checked
  • Anyone who needs a medical device, which Ultrahuman says Ring PRO isn't
What still needs checking
  • Band width and per-size inner diameter
  • Whether a worn-out battery is repaired or replaced at a cost, since the Terms of Sale exclude battery wear from the limited warranty
  • Independent, peer-reviewed accuracy data for Ring PRO against polysomnography or ECG
  • Battery lifespan, out-of-warranty replacement cost and charger power draw
  • Renewal prices for PowerPlugs after the first term
  • Minimum supported iOS and Android versions
  • How long Ultrahuman will sell and support Ring PRO in the US

InstallationNo installation

No installation. It pairs over Bluetooth (BLE 5.3) with the Ultrahuman app, which is on the App Store and Google Play. In the box are the ring, the Ring PRO Charger and a 1 m USB-C to USB-C cable. Ring PRO charges only on the PRO Charger or PRO Charging Case, not on a Ring AIR charger. Before you order, Ultrahuman offers a free sizing kit with plastic sizers in sizes 5 to 14.

WarrantyA 12-month limited warranty runs from delivery and covers defects…

A 12-month limited warranty runs from delivery and covers defects in materials and workmanship. It's valid only in the country of purchase. The Terms of Sale, which don't name Ring PRO, exclude consumable parts such as batteries or protective coatings unless a defect caused the failure. They also exclude accidents, misuse and normal wear and tear. Cosmetic damage such as scratches and dents isn't covered unless a defect caused it. Upgrading through trade-in resets the warranty. Optional UltrahumanX coverage costs $36 for 1 year, with accidental damage protection and priority care. The $54 plan for 2 years adds theft and loss protection and what Ultrahuman calls weight loss insurance.

ReturnsIf you're not completely satisfied, you can return it within 30 days of delivery

If you're not completely satisfied, you can return it within 30 days of delivery. Send it back in the original packaging with all original accessories, including the charger. The Ring PRO FAQ and the Smart Rings Terms of Sale both say return shipping is free. No restocking fee is stated. The Terms of Sale list these return terms under the Ring AIR heading, and the FAQ applies them to Ring PRO.

More about this assessment

Ultrahuman Ring PRO is a titanium smart ring that sells for $479 on Ultrahuman's US store, with the PRO Charging Case included. Ultrahuman says there are no recurring subscription fees for accessing your data. It rates the battery at up to 15 days, or up to 45 days with the case. The ring comes in whole sizes 5 to 14 and is water resistant to 100 m. The catch is that some features are paid PowerPlugs, and the Ring PRO FAQ gives no accuracy figures. Ultrahuman also says Ring PRO isn't a medical device.

Strengths on paper

  • No required subscription, and the $479 price includes the PRO Charging Case
  • Battery rated for up to 15 days (up to 45 days with the case), with a full charge in about 2.5 hours
  • Up to 250 days of data storage, with up to a year of ring data backed up on the case
  • Titanium ring with water resistance to 100 m (328 ft)
  • 30-day return window with free return shipping, per the Ring PRO FAQ and Terms of Sale

Limitations

  • You pay the full cost upfront, and some features are sold separately as paid PowerPlugs
  • The 12-month limited warranty doesn't cover batteries unless a defect caused the failure, and accidental damage cover costs extra through UltrahumanX (theft and loss cover needs the two-year plan)
  • No Ring PRO accuracy figures on the pages checked, though the FAQ says its metrics are benchmarked against industry-leading fitness wearables
  • Thicker and heavier than Ring AIR: 2.65 mm and 3.3 to 4.8 g, against 2.4 mm and 2.4 g for the AIR on Ultrahuman's comparison page
  • Needs its own PRO Charger or case, since a Ring AIR charger won't work

Incomplete: energy use. This is not the full ownership cost.

Energy component: Unknown

Purchase + installation + years × (annual consumables + annual other) + watts/1000 × hours/day × 365 × years × $/kWh. Annualized allowances, not an exact replacement schedule. Excludes taxes, shipping, finance and resale unless entered.
Replacement parts & cost assumptions

No scheduled consumable is listed. That does not mean zero maintenance or repair costs.

  • Ultrahuman says there are no recurring subscription fees for accessing your data, so other annual costs are $0. The three-year estimate is the $479 purchase price, before tax and shipping.
  • The estimate leaves out optional PowerPlugs and UltrahumanX coverage. The Cardio Adaptability PowerPlug is $24 for 1 year or $38 for 2 years. Cycle & Ovulation Pro is $39 for 1 year or $69 for 2 years. UltrahumanX is $36 for 1 year or $54 for 2 years. If you add any of them, add those costs too. The pages checked don't state renewal prices after the first term.
  • Ultrahuman lists no replaceable parts or refills, so annual consumables are $0. That doesn't mean battery wear, a lost ring or out-of-warranty repair cost nothing. Ultrahuman doesn't state the charger's power draw, so energy is unknown.
  • The US page says the ring is HSA/FSA eligible. Any tax saving isn't deducted from the estimate.
