Choose ifCouples who like the bed at different temperatures, want to keep their Queen mattress and will keep paying for Autopilot. You want to cool or heat your half of a 10 to 16 inch mattress from a bedside remote, with no subscription and no need for Wi-Fi.
Main trade-offMembership fees add at least $199 a year to the $2,899 price, and the 5-year warranty needs a $299-plus plan kept active. The $1,699 kit covers one side only, neither the Two Sleepers option nor the add-on Companion system showed a price, and power draw, noise and running costs are unpublished.
Key specifications
  • Temperature range: 55°F to 110°F, set separately for each side of the bed
  • Cover: 1 in thick, 60 x 80 in for the Queen, with 18 biometric sensors (Pod 5 had two)
  • Hub power: Input 120/240 V AC and output 550 W, 12 V DC, as listed. Eight Sleep doesn't state average power draw
  • Hub size: 16.54 x 7.87 x 6.50 in (L x H x W), 15.2 lb
  • Autopilot membership: Required. Standard: $17/mo or $199/yr, with a 2-year warranty. Enhanced: $25/mo or $299/yr, with a 5-year warranty. Elite: $33/mo or $399/yr, with a 5-year warranty, plus Health Check and cardiovascular and respiratory monitoring
  • Tracking and alarm: Every Autopilot plan lists sleep and health tracking, plus a vibration and thermal alarm. The launch release names heart rate, HRV and breathing rate. The Autopilot page names sleep stages
  • Temperature range: 55°F to 115°F (cools or heats)
  • Zones in this kit: One zone, for one side of the bed. You can add a Companion system later for the other side
  • Mattress fit: Mattresses 10 to 16 in tall. Works with adjustable and split-adjustable bases
  • Controls and sensing: Nightstand remote with two USB-C ports (one for power, one for charging accessories) and a free app. Optional presence sensing can start the sleep schedule when you get into bed early. Works with or without Wi-Fi
  • Water: Needs distilled water. Sleepme says the redesigned Dock has a higher-capacity reservoir so you refill less often, but it gives no volume
  • Subscription: None required
  • Power draw and noise: Not stated by the manufacturer (no wattage or decibel figure published)
Exact variantPod 6 Standard (two-zone Cover and Hub), Queen 60 x 80 in, no Base, Blanket or Pillow Cover. Autopilot membership billed separatelyOne Sleeper (single zone), Half Queen: Dock, Hydrolayer, cover and nightstand remote
DimensionsCover: Queen 60 in W x 80 in L, 1 in thick. Hub: 16.54 in L x 7.87 in H x 6.50 in W, 15.2 lb.Not stated by the manufacturer. The product page shows no dimensions or weights for the Dock or the Half Queen Hydrolayer. The system fits mattresses 10 to 16 inches tall.
InstallationThe Cover fits over your existing mattress like a fitted sheet. The Hub slides under the bed or sits on or near the nightstand. It takes 120/240 V AC input, and the product page doesn't mention a dedicated circuit. You set temperatures, sync fitness apps and see health insights in the app. Eight Sleep says the Hub is small enough to fit under most bed frames. It's 7.87 in tall, so it needs at least that much space to go under a bed. Eight Sleep doesn't say whether it needs extra clearance for airflow. You set it up yourself. Stretch the cover and anchor band over the mattress like a fitted sheet, then place the Hydrolayer inside and secure it with S-hooks. Connect the water hose and power cord, and add the included System Cleaner packet. Then fill the Dock with distilled water until the screen shows the Hydrolayer is full. It works on adjustable and split-adjustable bases. Sleepme doesn't recommend it for a top-split mattress if both sides need to raise and lower independently.
MaterialsThe Cover's top fabric is 100% polyester. The side fabric is 46% polyester, 44% rayon and 10% spandex. The inner fabric is 96% nylon and 4% spandex. Eight Sleep doesn't state what the Hub is made of.The Hydrolayer is a water-filled membrane with ultra-thin internal channels. The cover is breathable and machine-washable, with built-in waterproof protection, but Sleepme doesn't give its fabric composition. Sleepme says the core electronics are designed and assembled in the USA, and the soft goods are made by partners in Asia.
WarrantyThe standard limited warranty covers manufacturing defects under normal in-home, non-commercial use for 2 years. That's the term listed for the Autopilot Standard plan. With an active Autopilot Enhanced or Elite membership, it's a 5-year limited warranty instead. Coverage starts on the delivery date. Both terms require an active Eight Sleep membership throughout the coverage period. They apply only to Pods bought directly from eightsleep.com, not from resellers, marketplaces or secondhand sales. The warranty excludes embedded software, normal wear and tear, cosmetic damage, accidents and misuse, and service by anyone Eight Sleep hasn't authorized.Two-year limited warranty, with an option to extend it. The product page doesn't show the extension's price or terms.
ReturnsThere's a 30-night trial, which Eight Sleep calls risk-free, with free shipping and free returns. To return a Pod, contact Eight Sleep support within 30 calendar days of the delivery date. Eight Sleep sends return shipping instructions and a prepaid return label. It says refunds are typically processed within 5 to 10 business days. You can return Pod 6 components individually within the 30-day window. Delivery to a freight forwarder, or rerouting to an unsupported country, voids return eligibility. The policy says each component must meet return requirements but doesn't define them. Eight Sleep doesn't say whether Autopilot fees are refunded. You get a 30-night sleep trial with free returns. A return starts with a Return Authorization, and refunds are issued within 30 days of receipt. Outside the contiguous US, you pay return shipping. Sleepme can't process returns for items bought through third-party retailers. Orders placed November 4 to December 25 get an extended trial through January 25 of the following year.
Unresolved questions
  • Whether Pod 6 follows the 12-month minimum membership in Eight Sleep's help center, which doesn't name a Pod generation
  • What still works if you cancel
  • Average power draw, nightly run time and noise level
  • Water reservoir capacity, and the refill and maintenance-insert schedule
  • Which mattress thicknesses are supported, since Eight Sleep says only that the Cover fits any mattress
  • Whether Autopilot fees are refunded if you return the Pod within the 30-night trial
  • What condition a returned Pod must be in
  • When, or if, the FDA clearance Eight Sleep says it's pursuing comes through
  • Long-term reliability of the new Hub and 18-sensor Cover, which launched in September 2026
  • Dock power draw and yearly electricity cost
  • Measured noise level, since Sleepme says only that the 2.0 Dock is quieter than earlier generations
  • Dock and Half Queen Hydrolayer dimensions and weight
  • System Cleaner price and replacement schedule
  • Price and terms of the extended warranty
  • Prices for the Two Sleepers option and the Companion system
  • Long-term durability and leak resistance of the Hydrolayer
