The verdict

Amplify RED III is a three-person eucalyptus cabin with far-infrared, full-spectrum and red-light heaters, on sale for $8,599. That's $1,600 more than the same-size Amplify III without red light. The catch: Sunlighten doesn't publish the red light's wavelength or output, so you can't judge what the extra money buys.

The trade-off

You pay $1,600 extra for red light with no published wavelength or dose, and opened saunas can't be returned.

About this price

Sale price on Sunlighten's online store on Oct 13, 2026. The regular price is $9,899. The product page showed $8,399 for a "Fall Reset Event" ending October 14, 2026, with the discount applied at checkout. That extra $200 isn't counted here. The page said "Ready to Ship" and "Arrives in 12-14 days", but Sunlighten's store showed it as unavailable, so confirm stock before you order. Freight in the contiguous US was free, and Sunlighten values it at $648. The price is before tax. Truemed (HSA/FSA), Affirm and Klarna are ways to pay, not discounts.

A GOOD FIT FOR

Two or three people who want red light built into their sauna and can add a dedicated 240 V, 20 A circuit.

  • Two or three people who want far-infrared, full-spectrum and red-light heaters in one cabin
  • A home with a dedicated 240 V, 20 A circuit where the cabin will go, or an electrician lined up to add one
  • About 63 × 46 in of floor under a standard 8 ft ceiling, reached through a 30 in doorway
  • A garage or flat, paved driveway where the freight carrier can leave a pallet

THINK TWICE IF

  • You want red light at a known wavelength and dose, which Sunlighten doesn't publish
  • Running a new 240 V circuit to the spot isn't practical
  • You can do without red light, since the same-size Amplify III Eucalyptus costs $1,600 less
  • You'll mostly use it alone, since the 2-person Amplify RED II costs $900 less
  • You might want to return it after opening the boxes
  • The only spot is within 5 ft of a shower, tub or cold plunge, which voids the warranty
  • You have a pacemaker, since Sunlighten warns its assembly magnets can interfere with one
What still needs checking
  • The red-light heaters' wavelength and irradiance, and whether they run at the same time as the far-infrared heaters
  • Average power use during a session, and so the yearly running cost
  • Whether the circuit needs GFCI protection, and how much clearance to leave around the cabin
  • What the linked Amplify RED III spec sheet adds, since it couldn't be opened on Oct 13, 2026
  • Whether an ETL listing covers this exact model, and its file number
  • What the Vitatech EMF test measured, at what distance, and whether it included the red-light heaters
  • Whether it's in stock, since the product page and Sunlighten's store listing disagreed
  • The lifespan and replacement price of the full-spectrum and red-light heaters
  • Whether the $8,599 sale price lasts past the October 14 event

The practical details.

Before you buy

InstallationIt needs a dedicated 240 V, 20 A circuit and a NEMA 6-20R outlet for its 6-20P plug

It needs a dedicated 240 V, 20 A circuit and a NEMA 6-20R outlet for its 6-20P plug. Sunlighten tells you to book your electrician early so the outlet is ready on build day. Its FAQ says a power strip or converter voids the warranty. The warranty page also rules out extension cords and non-dedicated circuits. It requires at least 5 ft between the sauna and any source of water or vapor. The product page doesn't mention GFCI protection or clearance around the cabin. Freight arrives in two to three large boxes on a pallet, left in your garage or on a flat, paved driveway spot. The carrier calls first to schedule. The panels lock together with Magne-Seal corners, without screws or nails. Sunlighten says two people take about 2 to 3 hours. Its guides page has manuals and assembly guides for the standard Amplify II, III and IV, but none listed under Amplify RED.

WarrantySunlighten's warranty page groups Amplify with its other cabin saunas

Sunlighten's warranty page groups Amplify with its other cabin saunas. For home use, the cabinet and heaters get 7 years, the controls 3 years, and the glass door and audio 1 year. Cabinetry includes benches, floor grates and heater cover frames. Controls include the control pad, in-sauna tablet and power box. Commercial use gets 5 years on the cabinet and heaters and 1 year on everything else. The cabin terms don't single out the red-light heaters. The general terms cover replacement parts only. Labor and technician costs aren't covered. You pay all freight, including on parts shipped for service. Coverage is for the original buyer only and ends if you sell the sauna. It's void on a power strip, extension cord, converter or non-dedicated circuit, or within 5 ft of water. Outdoors, the plastic sheet of the sauna cover (sold separately) must stay on at all times, even during sessions. The sauna must be bought and put into use within a year of its manufacture date. The page shows no version or effective date.

ReturnsNon-custom saunas can be returned within 30 days of delivery…

Non-custom saunas can be returned within 30 days of delivery, but only unopened in the original packaging. Opened saunas can't be returned. Fees can include a 3% administrative fee, a $499 restocking fee per Amplify sauna, storage fees and return shipping. Cancelling before it ships can cost the 3% fee, plus storage fees if it has to be rerouted.

More about this assessment

Amplify RED III is Sunlighten's three-person eucalyptus cabin with red light built in. It has seven far-infrared, five near-infrared red-light and three full-spectrum heaters. It needs a dedicated 240 V, 20 A circuit with a NEMA 6-20R outlet. On Oct 13, 2026 the store listed it at an $8,599 sale price, down from $9,899, with free freight. Opened saunas can't be returned, and the warranty covers parts but not labor. Sunlighten doesn't publish the red light's wavelength or output.

Strengths on paper

  • Fifteen heaters: seven far-infrared, five near-infrared red-light and three full-spectrum
  • Full electrical specs are on the page: 240 V, 3,465 W, 14.44 A and a NEMA 6-20R outlet
  • Sized for three, with a 56.6 in bench and published inside, door and bench measurements
  • Panels lock together without screws or nails, in about 2 to 3 hours with two people
  • Fits under an 8 ft ceiling, and the panels pass through a 30 in doorway
  • Free freight in the contiguous US, which Sunlighten values at $648
  • Sunlighten links third-party EMF and air-quality test reports from its safety page

Limitations

  • Needs a dedicated 240 V, 20 A circuit, and Sunlighten tells you to book an electrician without pricing the work
  • No published wavelength, output or dose for the red light, so you can't compare it with a red-light panel
  • No manual or assembly guide is listed for Amplify RED models, only for the standard Amplify
  • Opened saunas can't be returned
  • Unopened returns can cost a $499 restocking fee, a 3% administrative fee, storage fees and return shipping
  • The warranty covers parts only, so you pay labor and freight on repairs
  • Only the cabinet and heaters get 7 years: controls get 3, and the glass door and audio 1
  • The warranty ends if you sell the sauna
  • ETL certification is claimed, but no listing number is given for this model
  • Sunlighten warns that the magnets used to assemble its saunas can interfere with pacemakers

What it costs to own.

Adjust the assumptions for your use. Missing costs stay unknown.

PLAN YOUR OWNERSHIP COSTS

What will it cost to own?

Change the assumptions to fit your use. Leave an unknown cost blank. Add water, subscriptions, cleaning, shipping and taxes if they apply. Use average operating power, not the maximum rating.

3-year known subtotal

$8,599.00

Incomplete: installation, energy use. This is not the full ownership cost.

Energy component: Unknown

Purchase + installation + years × (annual consumables + annual other) + watts/1000 × hours/day × 365 × years × $/kWh. Annualized allowances, not an exact replacement schedule. Excludes taxes, shipping, finance and resale unless entered.
Replacement parts & cost assumptions

No scheduled consumable is listed. That does not mean zero maintenance or repair costs.

  • Purchase is the $8,599 sale price on Sunlighten's online store on Oct 13, 2026. At the $9,899 regular price, it would be $1,300 more. Freight was free in the contiguous US.
  • Installation cost is unknown. Sunlighten tells you to book an electrician for the 240 V, 20 A circuit and NEMA 6-20R outlet, but doesn't price that work. Assembly is yours: two people for about 2 to 3 hours.
  • No filter, lamp or other recurring part is listed, so annual consumables are $0. Sunlighten gives no lifespan or price for its full-spectrum or red-light heaters. They're under the 7-year warranty, but that covers parts only, and you pay labor and freight.
  • The 3,465 W figure is the rated draw, not a measured average, so yearly energy isn't estimated. At that rating, a 45-minute preheat plus a 40-minute session would use about 4.9 kWh. That's an upper limit, since Sunlighten doesn't publish average draw.
  • No subscription or app fee is mentioned, so other yearly costs are $0.

Evidence & sources.

Are saunas good for you? Our evidence review grades the research as Moderate. That grade is about the claim, not about this product.

  • Manufacturer claimHeater counts, electrical rating, measurements, weight, delivery and assembly details come from Sunlighten's product page.15 These figures come from the maker and weren't measured independently. The product page links an Amplify RED III spec sheet, but Sunlighten's document host blocked automated access on Oct 13, 2026, so it wasn't read. Sunlighten's guides page has an Amplify RED filter with no documents under it.
  • Manufacturer claimSunlighten says the cabin reaches up to 170°F "in ideal conditions" and warms about one degree per minute.1 These are Sunlighten's figures, not independent measurements. It says heat-up depends on room temperature.
  • Manufacturer claimSunlighten says its heater panels measure 0.5 mG, less than 1 mG, and links an EMF test report whose file name credits Vitatech Electromagnetics. The product page calls its heating and light technology third-party verified for ultra-low EMF and VOCs.14 The safety page gives no ELF figure, measuring distance, test date or model list. It doesn't say whether the near-infrared red-light heaters were tested. The Vitatech PDF sits on Sunlighten's document host, which blocked automated access on Oct 13, 2026, so it wasn't read.
  • Manufacturer claimSunlighten says its saunas are ETL-certified and points to the Intertek Directory to check.14 Neither page gives a listing number or says which models are covered, and neither mentions UL. The Intertek Directory search didn't load on Oct 13, 2026, so no listing was confirmed. Ask Sunlighten for the file number before you buy.
  • Manufacturer claimSunlighten links an indoor air-quality report by APEX Environmental Consultants. It says the tested saunas had only trace levels of VOCs and no airborne metals.4 That summary is Sunlighten's. APEX tested "a sampling" of saunas, and the page doesn't say which models. The APEX PDF wasn't read.
  • Manufacturer claimSunlighten's FAQ calls its far-infrared technology the only one "clinically shown to lower blood pressure, increase core temperature and aid in weight loss." Doctor testimonials on the page make further health claims.14 These are marketing claims and testimonials, not measurements of this cabin. This review didn't assess the studies behind them. Sunlighten's own footer calls its products general wellness products, not medical devices, and says to check with your health professional first.
  • Manufacturer claimSunlighten's contraindications page warns that the magnets used to assemble its saunas can interrupt the pacing and inhibit the output of pacemakers.17 The page doesn't name models, but Amplify RED III's panels lock together with Magne-Seal corners. It also lists medications, pregnancy, implants and several health conditions as reasons to check with a physician first. For children and older adults, it advises a lower temperature and no more than 15 minutes at a time.
  • Manufacturer claimSunlighten suggests starting with 10 to 15 minute sessions at 100°F every other day, working up toward 40-minute daily sessions. It advises at least 8 oz of water before and 24 oz after.1 That's usage advice, not evidence of a benefit.
