Exact variantUS 5510, the closest current model to the discontinued 5500-2US model, store item 109994, with one Particle + Carbon filter and an Arctic Trail pre-filter
Dimensions13.59 × 8.27 × 22.17 in (width × depth × height). It weighs 13.3 lb. The 5500-2 was wider, taller and heavier, at 15 × 8.2 × 23.6 in and 15 lb.13.4 × 7.9 × 7.9 in (height × width × depth). It weighs 4.2 lb.
InstallationNo installation. It plugs into a standard 120 V, 60 Hz outlet. Winix's manual says to leave 12 to 18 in from walls, and never less than 12 in while it runs. Leave the same gap from TVs, radios and other electronics. Use it indoors on a hard, flat surface, out of direct sunlight.None. Plug it in and it blows clean air out the top. Blueair's page links no manual, so it doesn't say how much wall clearance it needs.
MaterialsFour stages: a washable fine mesh pre-filter, an AOC carbon filter made of carbon pellets, a True HEPA filter and PlasmaWave. Winix says the HEPA filter was tested to IEST-RP-CC0007. The manual says the carbon filter can't be washed. Housing materials aren't stated. It's made in Korea.A single Particle + Carbon filter sits behind a washable pre-filter. Blueair says the filter captures PM2.5, pollen, dust mite allergen and pet dander allergen. The carbon is aimed at light household odors such as smoke and cooking. Blueair calls the system HEPASilent, a mix of electrostatic and mechanical filtration. Pre-filters come in Arctic Trail, Night Waves and Winter Reed.
WarrantyWinix gives the 5510 and 5520 a 2-year limited warranty, valid only in the US and Canada. If a part is defective, Winix will repair or replace the part or the unit. You need proof of purchase from an authorized retailer. Independent sellers on Amazon, eBay and similar sites don't count. Non-Winix filters void it, and the filters themselves aren't covered. Claims start with a form in your winixamerica.com account, and you may pay for spare parts or shipping. The manual lists repair services as not available and says no spare parts will be made after the warranty ends. The discontinued 5500-2 is still on Winix's 2-year list. One year from purchase, or two if you register. Blueair's warranty page gives 60 days to register, in your Blueair account or the app. That page doesn't name the 511, so the two-year term comes from the product page. You need to replace filters on Blueair's schedule and keep proof of purchase. Coverage is for the original owner only, and warranties aren't available through third-party resellers. In the first year a defective unit is exchanged for a new or equivalent one. During the registered extension, the replacement is refurbished. Coverage ends if the unit leaves the continental US or Canada. Filters are covered for 30 days.
ReturnsOrders from winixamerica.com can be returned within 30 days of purchase. Returns must be in the original packaging with all filters, manuals and parts. You pay the return shipping, and Winix asks you to mark the return authorization number on the box. If you bought from another retailer, its policy applies. Restocking fees aren't mentioned.30 days from purchase for items bought directly from Blueair, sent back with Blueair's prepaid label. Filters and pre-filters that are used or out of their plastic wrap can't be returned. Shipping charges, including the $5 flat rate, aren't refunded. Blueair takes 10 to 14 days to process a return. The refund then reaches your original payment method within 3 to 5 business days.
